This is a much bigger deal than most realize. Vegas sniffs this stuff out.

Everyone knows the slant towards the SEC and Alabama in general. A one loss team (to another finalist, and an early loss to boot) that beats the #1 overall 2 time champions in the CCG is going to the playoffs, especially when it's Alabama. Teams have always been degraded for losing key players, especially QBs, so Florida State was doomed. Expecting anything else (unless they were going to leave out Texas perhaps?) is just wishful thinking.

I would give it to dak or Tua

Dak and Purdy have almost exactly the same stat lines this year.

I think Tua gets downgraded with Tyreek also being a candidate as easily the #1 WR this season.

Some of our typical candidates (or their teams in general) have faltered to muddy the waters (Mahomes, Allen). Ravens have been strong, but can your really put Lamar into the discussion?

It also seems unlikely for it to be anyone other than a QB these days.

No Lamar can’t be in the discussion, he hasn’t been close to good enough in my opinion.

Name a time a team was held out for losing their starting QB. tOSU wasn't when they had to play 3rd string QB Cardale Jones. Seems like they did just fine.

I need proper explanation why texas jumped 4 spots for beating Oklahoma state?

Louisville finished 15th and Oklahoma State finished 20th

People gave no pushback for texas jumping fsu

The real answer to this is they knew how bad it would look to include bama but not texas due to texas win vs bama. Once Bama made it then it was a package deal which is crazy when you think about it

yup had FSU not lost Travis everyone would be complaining about how they ignored the head to head because Texas would have been left out.

I think folks aren't questioning Texas as much because if the committee had followed prior precedent, they would have been in anyway because they beat Bama h2h.

Because of that, the committee couldn't select Bama without Texas and couldn't really bump Alabama ahead of Texas.

Not so sure about that. Maybe if Texas had lost to Kansas or someone like that, they could have. But their loss was to a very good OU team in a rivalry game by 4 points. That's a forgivable loss.

It may not have been in the playoff era, but teams have been dropped in the rankings for losing a key player without a corresponding loss.

Yeah I know, just looking at the expression on peoples faces though I don’t think the sec was getting left out.

Alabama beat Georgia making Texas signature win look better. Texas by 10 in Tuscaloosa is arguably the most impressive win by any team in the playoffs once they determine that Alabama is worthy of being included in the playoffs.

I think Texas is in regardless. Who would you have put in your 4 and why wouldn’t it include Texas? I think Texas has the best resume among 1 loss teams.

True and as was pointed out in the tweet someone posted, ESPN was talking like it was a done deal that Bama was in. Just not sure they could have gotten away with it re: Texas because of the h2h. Wouldn't be a surprise if they tried anyway though.

I agree as i posted my playoffs on Saturday night. I would have bama out and fsu/texas in.

I just think its funny how they were a package deal though.

a win over okie state shouldn't have been good enough to jump texas over fsu. They were just doing what they can to get bama in. Almost certain that if georgia wins that fsu is 3 and texas is 4

Why was a win vs ok state treated the same as beating Georgia

I think they might have bumped Texas to 3 but I absolutely agree.
