All of that just confirms that it was the wrong decision.

I heard 1 for 8, maybe he had some attempts in college that were included in that?

Possibly but yeah i think everyone agrees it was the wrong decision. Just some disagreements on some of the small stuff

lol

It was a stupid decision, there's no defending it. Nathaniel Hackett has even admitted that he should have gone for it.

The longest field goal ever in Seahawks Stadium is 56 yards.

He was kicking at sea level, at night, next to Puget Sound so there was a lot of moisture in the air. He wasn't kicking in Denver and even in Denver it wouldn't have been the right decision. Just a little more understandable.

As @shopson67 pointed out, when a kicker has to kick with more power, he sacrifices accuracy. That's why he's 1 for 8 on attempts of 60 yards or longer.

There's absolutely nothing that supports that decision.
Let's also not ignore the fact that it was Russell Wilson, not Charlie Batch, ffs.

He might not be what he once was.

But, he's a better option to get you 5 yards over a fucking kicker for 60 plus.

Just inexcusable.

Idgaf if it were Sebastian Janikowski.

Dumb ass play.

Dumb as play.

Yeah, that's not even an "if it works, he's a genius" type play. It was an "if it works, sometimes it's better to be lucky than smart" type play. lol

Its pretty crazy, but all 3 Cleveland sports teams are starting to open up windows where they should be successful - and for each team- the current season is the season where they are least equipped to win and they should only get better.

Guardians- obviously they are overachieving this year. A lot of people (that do not know baseball) picked them to finish last in the division despite having Jose Ramirez, Bieber, McKenzie and Clase. Add in a loaded minor leagues and a bunch of young hitters coming along and their best team with this core still will not be for years to come. Gimenez, Kwan, Gonzalez, Naylor look like they are establishing themselves as lineup stalwarts. The best prospects are still to come too- Espino, Valera, Williams, etc.

Cavaliers- just self explanatory. Donovan Mitchell turned 26 last week. Garland and Mobley are what? 22? Allen is 24. They have an owner willing to pay a lot of money when the team is good to improve. 4 all star capable players that are all young and should be together a long time. What team has 4 guys that are this young and this talented- all signed up for AT LEAST the next 3 years.

Browns- Watson at QB. Myles Garrett, Denzel Ward, Nick Chubb - the best pair of guards in the league. A lot of talent all over.

Of all places- Cleveland completes 2 of the biggest trades in sports getting Mitchell and Watson here.

It should be a fun next few years for all of these teams- and like I said- while all 3 should be pretty good this year- their best years are definitely still ahead of them.

Cannot say I saw anything like this for the Tribe but I didn't think we'd be in last (didn't buy the mini-hype of Detroit and thought little of KC). While I loathe Dolan's penny pinching ways if it can help them NEXT season I could see moving Bieber if it's clear he wants a megadeal (and if he keeps pitching like he has we'd be selling high). With the glut of young guys in minors in middle infield I'd even consider dealing Rosario depending what kind of deal he might want (he's signed through 2023).

Agree on Cavs. Self explanatory why the excitement/hope

Browns, too. Might say we'll have cap issues soon and maybe we will. But when we were signing FAs the last couple seasons I often heard "Great...but how will we extend Myles, Ward, Chubb, Bitonio, etc?" These guys are masters of managing the cap and often are among the top spenders AND in cap room. They'll figure it out. In addition, unlike the usual $8-10 mil raises we've seen in the cap each year heard many say it might start going up $30 mil or so per.

Cannot think of a time I've thought so highly of all 3 FOs in this city.

what is funny is right now the Browns have the most cap space in the NFL at 38M. Second is Denver at less than 12M.

in the NFL you can roll cap space over to the next year- so effectively they have Watson for free next year cap space wise.

plus - as you said- the cap is only going to keep increasing so locking in guys like watson, ward, chubb, myles, teller now is only upside.

Garrets contract is already one of the best in football.

hey- its all there in black and white for ya.

I dont know how can you say i am wrong when you look at the rosters :pound:

Do you really need any examples of how many times you've been wrong? You over-pimp every team you root for. And you talked stupid shit about a player that you once supported, then hated for 4 years, then hung on his nutz for 4 year again only to turn around and foolishly say you know who's prime ended five minutes after he went to Los Angeles.

Hey are you related to fredsdeadfriend? If so that would explain a lot.

I am not defending it.

I said it was the wrong decision.

I am calling out @shopson67 because he is wrong to assume that the coaches didn’t know he was capable of making the kick and “were taking him at his word”.

Or that he “hadn’t done it before”.

NFL coaches are better than that.

Of course they have seen him make that kick in practice/warmups.

And yes, it was still a bad decision.

So, you admit you're arguing semantics, not the topic at hand? As noted, the longest made FG on that field EVER is 56 yards. Only 2 players EVER have made a 64 yarder or longer, one at elevation and the record 66 yarder hit the crossbar. Making a kick in practice is not equivalent to making it in a game. The decision to kick when you weren't forced to by the clock is ludicrous. If it's the fg attempt or a shot into the endzone, that's still close to a 50/50 decision IMO.

I'd argue also that the decision to hire Hackett in the first place is also misguided, but we'll see if that plays out. His value was significantly exaggerated by the presence of Rodgers; he failed in Buffalo previously as a coordinator.
