apachef do you think the Nats will acquire someone by the trade deadline? No doubt it will be something minor if we do. I've seen rumors about getting an infielder or an addition to the 'pen. Could be a big week for Walters, if he rakes Rizzo might not do anything.

edit: it'll be hard for him to rake, with the next 4 starting pitchers the Nats face as i listed above.

I don't think they'll do much at all, if anything. Like you said, the only thing I can see them doing is some tweeking in the pen, maybe another lefty specialist since Blevins has been a bit dodgy (though he's been good against lefties, the righties destroy him).

 And I'm iffy about getting an infielder. On one hand, sounds like Zim will be out several weeks at least and Walters is still a question mark and we know what we're gonna get from Espi. On the other hand i really dont want them to trade away a quality piece in the minors for a guy that'll probably platoon at 2B

Padres :yahoo: Man the Barves are really not taking advantage of their easiest part of the schedule (knocks on wood). Coming outta the break, they play(ed) 11 home games, 3 against Philly, 4 against Miami, 4 against San Diego. So far they're 3-5 on this home stand.

Harper walks in the 2nd and gets doubled off on a line drive to the wall by Ramos that was caught by Bruce. I don't mind that gamble by Bryce. He read it a bit wrong, but it was definitely a good one to gamble on, looked like a double off the bat. Good hustle to make it close at first, too.

Gio gets a pickoff in the bottom of the 2nd, so both teams have a runner thrown out on the bases so far.

Oh right it's an afternoon game today. D'oh!

Sounds like the Reds defense have already prevented 3 Nats runs. :smash: :gaah:

And now Cueto is settled in. Gonna need Gio to not give up a run.

Gio only 40 pitches through 3, having faced the minimum. Incredibly efficient for Gio.

:ohwell: 8 weeks would be until Sept 20th, about the end of the regular season.

Who are the potential 2nd basemen out there? I really wanted Zobrist and his .353 OBP but the Rays are back in it so that's prolly not gonna happen.

Prado? Aaron Hill? Rutledge?

That's a great question, and I have no idea about available 2nd basemen.

*I'm already a bit drunk so please forgive anything I may say.

Lead off hitter aboard in 4 out of the 5 innings so far. Need to cash in here.

Cueto is what Strasburg is supposed to be. A true ace. ERA in low 2's

Gio picks off Hamilton for his second of the day. Sure, it was a balk, but as we all know: LEFTYS CHEAT! (this was a common saying in umpire school...LEFTYS always cheat)
