I'm betting Evgeni got a sweet offer from the KHL...

I'd say he's worth 5-7 per in the NHL, so it will be interesting to see what he was offered.

Nothing about money yet. Supposedly it just happened, though the deal has been in works for more than a month already.

I'm going to predict 8-10 per. The KHL always seems to pay way over NHL slots.

Hi Dash!
I don't think it was about money - he wanted a guarantee he could participate in next Olympics.

I believe it's also a major holding point in Kovalchuk's negotiations. He couldn't get it in writing from LA, even though money was right. Now, he is trying to negotiate it for less money with NJ. If he does not get it - expect him to bolt to Russia as well.

Early reports are suggesting $6 million per season for Nabokov. That'll buy plenty of vodka.

That seems low by KHL standards. But if the motivation was indeed playing in the Olympics, I can see why he chose the KHL over the NHL given comparable money.

Good luck to Nabby. In some ways it's kind of nice the Sharks won't have to face him this season.

I'm not too sad to see him go either.
for some reason, he just owned the Canucks.

Nabokov (when translated from Russian to English) means 'Blackhawk'. :D

Sorry bud, had to.....I'm just glad my team has a bunch of Stanley Cups.....oh wait.....:)
