Do you go by who won or by the spread to count it as right or wrong?

I must have not seen this question.

The record is whether or not I picked the right team to win or not.

I consider close predictions as being 8 points or closer to both teams' score. I picked 8 because it is the most a team can score on a single drive.

My goal is to finish 80% correct and to have more close predictions than I do wrong picks. I don't think I am going to get it.
