I always liked hearing his stories as a kid.
He retired in the late 80s and was part of the Bicentennial celebration in NYC. I don't remember alot about that but I believe the navy was heavily involved?

I left F-14 school and San Diego July 3. I wasn't even a Pukin' Puppy yet.

That's where my pops went and then got stationed in Jacksonville. He did 2 tours during Vietnam on carriers.

Boot camp in Great Lakes, A school in Memphis, F-14 school in San Diego ... learned the most from the guys in my shop.

Viper and Jester would have retired. Striker would been dead or gone back to teach as Principal Strikland...lol

Hollywood and Wolfman were awful and got shot down or put in lock the entire movie.

Cougar should have had a cameo or something.

The other guys could have worked their way up or been associated with Top Gun in some manner.

Maverick was not in the plane restoration business. He was a test pilot for the Navy, likely in Yuma or some equally remote area. When Mav was fixing the airplane, he was doing it as a hobby.

36 years is a very, very long career. It would have been more far-fetched to have that many pilots working in some capacity with such a small outfit than the crap that Gen 5 was doing.

I get that....just spit balling ideas how they could have incorporated the old pilots in the film. There simply might not have been any interest by the actors.

I think one thing to note this in this game tonight is how Shanahan attacked Parsons. That kid never knew where it was coming from next ..... total domination for SF.

1) bench leno and charles and gates and put in lucas , paul and stromberg . leno is a matador , charles doesnt play hard and gates is not getting it done

2) on defense i bench barton and insert hudson . everytime hudson has gotten defensive snaps he has produced

3) bring in a new kicker

4) put BSJ on the outside and put stick figure in as the #5 DB . put quan or DJ in the slot

5) get mathis some snaps

6) develop Howell more and give him a running game

You want to bench Leno, how about Wylie hasn’t he been a liability?
