My expectations will be humbled until deapth can be developed across the board into the system. I've no problem w/ a 10 win season including a potential CCG and bowl.

Yea, honestly it always just takes a couple of games each year to humble my expectations.............because somewhere during the offseason I always begin to tell myself that we are National Title bound. That's the kid in me still I guess.......

Watching Oklahoma, Alabama, and LSU play in week 1 is like getting punched in the gut. Where the hell is all of their cobwebs dadburnit?!

I hate coming to terms with the fact that we just aren't at that level yet.......but unfortunately, it is what it is. Oklahoma is at that level of dominance right now where it almost makes me feel stupid to watch them play.........knowing the expectations that I have put on Nebraska, and then seeing the difference between the two teams.

Don't get me wrong, the offense could come together and the defense might just play unbelievable this year..........we could still be better than a 10-win team..........we could contend for the National Title, you never know.............but I honestly feel right now that if we can get 10 wins, we're probably scraping a few out to get there.

I just sense a lack of leadership and experience on the offensive side of the ball though. Losing Helu Jr. was a huge blow in that department.

first off JJM, i completely agree...the ball needs to be distributed wayyyyyy more. that being said, i never have and never will buy the whole "hes small he cant take the hits" argument.
tommie frazier: 6 2, 205
eric crouch: 6 foot, 210
T-mart: 6 foot 200

.....not that big a difference

Yea I get that.........I have no problem with him running the option because when he runs the option he's just getting tackled........Tommie and Crouch gained nearly all their yards off of option keepers and defenders were tackling them by the legs.

The issue that I have is that it almost seems like he is being encouraged to take off out of the pocket and run..........and when he does that it's a different story, because unlike the option where you are running by people, instead you are running directly into people.

And that is where he is going to take some ridiculously large hits.

With that said, Taylor taking off out of the pocket and running on 3rd down situations is going to be VERY key in Nebraska sustaining drives this season.

very good point. and it seemed like a couple times yesterday he was taking off before the he was really endangered of being sacked. it looked like he was to impatient to let the play develop and let his receivers break at the top of their routes...idk...taylor just stresses me

I agree as I saw Martinez scared a few times, but O line consistency needs to improve and it must before the Wisconsin game. Quincy Enunwa looked very good, Jamal Turner is special, as is Ameer Abdullah. Kinnie and Reed didn't have a great game, but Kinnie was his own worst enemy ala Niles Paul. On the defense, Meridith looks faster and stronger, Daimion Stafford is the real deal, and walk-on Trevor Roach is extremely good but I knew that as I watched him play at Elkhorn and he was a man among boys there. Brent Maher didn't dissapoint anyone. The offense had to be basic as there are things to keep hidden from Washington, Wiso, tOSU, etc.. I wonder why after all these years why is there no pipeline of juniors and seniors to fill out the O line at Nebraska? It is a new system with new blocking schemes, but I assume the line worked overtime on it this fall.
