This one time I had a really good idea....I was pretty young. I contacted Paypal and told them they should create a program online as a Third Party, so that when someone buys something online, the money and the item aren't just exchanged between the people who are selling and buying.
My idea was for the buyer to send the money to the third party (some company through paypal) and also the seller would send the item to that third party as well. Then when the third party received both items, they would then send each to the buyer and the seller. This would stop the seller from scamming anyone as he could not just accept the money and then never send the item.
Paypal wrote me back and told me that my idea was crazy basically and said they appreciate me trying to help. 1 year later Escrow.com surfaced, an exact copy of everything I told them.......guess who was behind that. Yep, paypal. I cannot say for certain that they took my idea, but for cripes sake, it was Paypal who set it all up and Paypal was the company who I told my idea to.
Yes there is a slight fee charged by Escrow I believe. I don't think it's much. But the point is that nobody can scam via paypal using this method now.
The reason I came up with the idea was because I paid a guy over paypal $300 for an ipod (not an auction on ebay) and I expected that paypal would take care of everything if the guy scammed me.
The next day the guy had cashed the money out, closed his account, and left town. I contacted paypal and they said "tough titties".......then I came up with that idea.
I know you guys are not going to steal my idea. It is just the way it is I really want to tell you though and hopefully here really soon. I have to get it up in the air before the season and especially before 10 16 10
