'93 FSU at ND. As a kid always knew to be an ND fan, this game as a boy really kicked off my "fandom" if you will. The rest is history...uhhh, a tough history 'til recent.

I'll go with the green jersey game as well.

A few weeks ago I made a post regarding the death of Ted Burgmeier. Some of you said you didn't remember him. He is the guy (#18) on the first you tube video on the original post here. If you get a chance, watch this video. He was great in that game and was one of the best all around athletes I can recall at ND. He came in as a QB in the same year as Montana (and Falash and Forystek) and played WR and cornerback, and on all the special teams. (a really nice guy too)

It's a damn shame 7478 that most will not remember this game (too young) ... or yet, the player of the game, #18 Ted Burgmeier.

OK, while this (green jersey) was my favorite game of all time, the best game ever was the 1973 (December 31, 1973) Sugar Bowl against Alabama which won us the national championship. It was a 24-23 game that had about 6 lead changes, and was in doubt until the last minute. Ara versus Bear.

I know I am late to this thread but these topics always interest me. I was too young to remember the '77 green jersey game and I didn't exist for the '73 Sugar. Obviously for me, the greatest game I ever saw was the '88 game against Miami. Even in my time, there were so many great games its hard to pick one but if i had to, that one stands above all others, even the Fiesta that year to secure the NC. My top 5 would have to be:

1. ND v. Miami 1988
2. ND v. FSU 1993
3. ND v. Colorado 1989
4. ND v. Fla. 1992 Sugar Bowl
5. ND v. Mich. 1992 (Reggie Brooks' "unconscious" TD). I hate ties but that was a gutsy performance to rally back.

Honorable mentions for 2012 Stanford (Stephan Taylor still hasn't crossed the goal line) and 1990 against Miami to end the series until the 2011 Sun Bowl.

Can't really disagree with any of the games presented.

Personally:
'88 ND VS. U (I can do that right, they're just the U right?)
'88 ND VS. WVU
'77 ND VS. UT
'96 ND VS. Rutgers
'25 ND VS. Stanford

The 96 game, because it was my first time being in "the Stadium" and I was good friends with a guy who's nephew was on the team (Ronnie Nicks). It was a cold day, the hot chocolate was even cold, but that didn't stop me from cheering my @ss off all day long. Of course, not our best squad, but Powlus and company put on a good show. Lastly, it was Lou's last home game. I managed to talk to Autry Denson leaving the stadium and got him to sign my cocoa "Mug" and Ronnie Nicks had Lou sign a couple of items for me and my friend. Definitely one of the best ways to get a first visit to ND. We were so tired after the game, we headed back to the hotel and just ordered a pizza... and of course, local TV replayed the game so I got to watch it from the warmth of the hotel room all over again!

The '25 game because it was ND's first ever bowl appearance and of course, Knute was coaching, his one and only Bowl Game; a W.
