My biggest concern

Are the refs calling these absolute tick tack personal foul calls.... I"m kinda worried the league is gonna get outta hand with these calls this year like never before.... These refs need to keep safety in mind sure... BUT not go overboard like a couple calls I watched last night...

Eh they always do this in preseason. As long as I've watched preseason nobody really cares. They call a lot of ticky tack plays to set the mood for the season.

If it starts happening in regular season on a regular basis the fans get in an uproar and ESPN (Hawks or not) starts writing articles all over the place.

Not worried. NFL knows their place. The market dictates the big hits and huge shots. Goodell gives just enough leash to let folks get in an uproar but still follow the sport. It's business.

I'm not worried either. It was the first preseason game for the refs just as much as it was for the players. As NFL_Announcer said, they're putting more emphasis on certain penalties as they seem to do every year and they're making sure the players know that they're going to call that stuff. I see your point, though, boogie. If it doesn't improve by the regular season, then we have a problem.

They want to put it in the players minds. There is some intentional over focus on new rule changes or pushing old rules that haven't been followed so well.

That and it is preseason for the zerbas as well and their bosses will be sure to go over their film and correct them. Better they make some of these now than when it counts.

I think that because of the physical play of your CBs, I would expect the "tick tack" fouls to be called quite a bit. Hell, Browner rides WRs down the sideline like SeaBiscuit half the time and doesn't get called.

As far as what is being called in the preseason, that is the refs' MO. They play tough in the preseason to set the tone, then swallow their whistles when the games become real.

My biggest concern is that when I'm digging something out of the garbage disposal there'll be some electrical surge somehow, or someone will flip the switch thinking it's a light, & I'll get my hand chopped off, and I'll have to get a hook for a hand, and I'll fall asleep with the hook on one day, and I'll instinctively scratch my balls with the hook & damage them to the point that I have to get robotic balls, and when it comes time to have babies I'll impregnate someone with a half-human half-robot, and he'll grow up to be like skynet in Terminator and try to wipe out the human race.
