Never mind. I think you mean the juggle catch. Yes, Butler was on Kearse with safety help. Butler actually played it well, just a nice bounce for Kearse.

99.9% of the time, that is an incomplete pass.

I agree with OP. As for the completions and completion %, that was mainly because he was throwing 5 yard routes and quick passes (not to take away from Tom).

I just think with his two interceptions he shoudn't have gotten it. Edelman was the offensive MVP and Butler the defensive MVP.

Also, hats off to Chris Matthews! Stud for a guy who was working at a Shoe Locker. And Kearse for staying with that ball for the catch at the end (even though he could have put that game away with the drop on 3rd down earlier in the game).

Grats to both teams

If Seattle had won the game, he was the MVP.

Not hating on Brady but I just question his MVP selection.

I think Butler or Edelman were more deserving.

Thoughts?

They always give it to the QB's it seems. I would have gone with Edelman.

Should've been Butler or Edelmen hands down. Brady was playing pretty crappy through 3 quarters (like 180 yards with the 2 picks on like 35 throws). Not that great overall.

Then Avril went down and Brady had all day to throw. Yah he made the completions, but it wasn't some epic performance worthy of MVP.

As much as Butler's play was the key single play of the game, I'm not sure one play makes an MVP.

Brady deserved it for the two 4th quarter drives against a great defense.

Brady deserved it for the two 4th quarter drives against a great defense.

Guy had 3 pass deflections outside of the INTs though. That's a pretty big deal shutting Wilson down on nearly 1/5 of his passes (3 PDs + INT) as a rookie, when Wilson doesn't want to throw to Revis/Browner.

Butler was basically a shut down corner that game and played the best out of every CB on the field (which is saying a TON considering Sherman/Revis are the two best in game).

Just drives me nuts how it's auto MVP for high name QBs. Didn't Eli Manning win it the year with Tyree's GOAT catch? Like wtf.

Pete Carroll and Darrell Bevell Co MVPs

who we kidding?

Best thing that ever happened to Tom Brady. Without that call, he's likely cut by the Pats before preseason.

He was abysmally bad.

Record for completions against arguably the best secondary ever. Edelman had a good game, but jeesh, Brady controlled this game. Some people are just sad, sore losers. Pathetic.

Edelman caught the balls Brady threw. And he also threw them to Vereen, Amendola, Lafell and Gronk.

Tom Brady was well deserved MVP.

But everytime I see Edelman I say Wesley Who???

I do think Brady was the MVP. Edelman was the only other person I could see getting it but Brady was clearly the most valuable to the team in the win. But question: has anyone won the MVP after throwing two picks?

QBs have won 27 SB MVPs in 49 games. If the winning QB doesn't shit the bed he wins the MVP. Don't hate the player, hate the game as they say. Has there ever been a SB winning QB who threw for > 300 yards and 4 TDs who didn't win the MVP ? I'll wait.

He had to throw the ball 50 times. He had little help in regards to the running game. Nobody was asked to do more than he was. He completed 74% of his passes for over 300 yards and 4 TDs. He had to lead his team back from a double digit deficit in the 4th quarter.

I think the guy earned this one.

4 tds to 4 different receivers against the no#1 D, down 10 points in 4th Q. Edelman would have been the 2nd most deserving

Brady deserved the MVP after those 2 drives in the 4th quarter. He had the numbers & the clutch plays to make his selection a "no-brainer".

For a WR to be MVP, he has put near record numbers or put up good numbers, make game changing plays & have a QB who puts up pedestrian numbers. Edelman didn't make the type of plays like previous WR MVP(s) Branch & Holmes did. And he didn't have the benefit of poor QB play like Hines Ward did when he was the SB MVP. And he is not Jerry Rice.

And although Butler made one of the greatest plays in SB history that won the Pats the SB, one great play & few other good plays does not make you an MVP. The only CB to win MVP had a dominant game with multiple interceptions that were both returned for 30+ yards.

I would still give it to edelman... I know this is not true, but watching him makes me believe like he tried harder and wanted it more than any other patriot... Maybe it is just the way he plays, and maybe it was because he was injured the whole game.

I don't have anything against Brady but I think it should have been Edelman too.

Actually before the Game I told my son that Edelman would be MVP if they won and have 11 catches, half right. I think he is the MVP of the team for the season with Brady and Gronk following. But when Seattle shut down the running game, and falling all on Brady, with 0 T/O's from D till last play, to throw 4Tds to 4 different receivers and overcoming a 10 pt deficit, he deserved it

Not surprised. Brady had a great 4th qtr and 4td passes made up for the two picks. He should definitely send a thank you card to Wilson for throwing that pick.
