If you’re playing music on the course, others are hearing it.

Fuck them is the only truthful position to take.
one of the courses near me, a pretty nice one, just got new carts with bluetooth speakers installed in them...

so that says something

do you guys play music through a bluetooth speaker while golfing?

if so, what are you listening to?

or do you hate those motherless heathens who are out there ruining the game?
Always, but only so it can be heard in the cart

I never get to play my music though.

Bumping this one.

My buddy asked me to sub for his friend in the league last night. No problem, he's an acquaintance and a good guy.

On the first hole he asked me if I'd mind him playing music. The moment he asked, he cast me into one of two undesirable positions. I have to either listen to annoying music the whole round or be the kill joy for the entire round. I had to be honest and go with option #1 but then all night I noticed the silence and felt a tad guilty.

If I take a phone call in the clubhouse, I'm expected to take the call outside. In fact this is common practice at our private club. The idea is that you're creating noise pollution that others shouldn't be subjected to. Well what's the difference between the two? Why can't I just claim that I always talk quietly and if someone asks me to, I'll take it outside? Why doesn't that same sort of excuse apply?

If it's not ok to force your noise on others in the restaurant, it shouldn't be any different out on the course.

People who feel the need to share their music with others in public places are a pox on humanity. That's why god gave us headphones and earbuds. Anyone who feels otherwise is just a selfish asshole.

I went out yesterday for what was probably my last round of the season if the forecast holds and was paired with a twosome and another single. They were all in their 30s I'd guess. The twosome was playing music... that monotonous sing-songy rap music that I assume is popular. They didn't ask me or the other single whether it bothered us and we didn't object. It wasn't real loud and I sorta got used to it but it was annoying.

Even worse was that the twosome was sooo f'n slow.. and they were not hacks. They could both play some. But they would just stand around chatting between every shot.. drove me nuts. I dislike slow play even more than music on the course and I had both. The final example happened on 18, a par 5 where one of them hit his 2nd into a pond. They spent 10 minutes over there looking for it and I saw them retrieve a couple of balls from the water. But none were apparently "his" ball so they kept on looking. Like was his ball a family heirloom or something? Just drop one and hit your damned shot.

The other single split after 7 holes... said he had to pick up his kid, but I think that was just an excuse to jump ahead which is what I should have done after 9 as there was nobody in front of us for several holes by then. But they were nice guys otherwise and I didn't want to tell them they were playing too damned slow for me. This post became more about their slow play but it was also my first experience playing with music.. which still has no place during a round of golf and is what earphones are for if you must have it.

My friend plays music in his cart with our usual foursome. He has the really small JBL speaker.
His typical volume level is one that you can barley hear it say ..30 feet from the cart.

I think it really comes down to volume ...and I bet more than half will always have it to loud.

B.S. bro.

If you're playing music, others have to endure it.
