This guy looks like the best running back in football this year (fumbles aside).

Can Dallas afford to pay Dez Bryant and Demarco Murray?

I don't see Dallas being able to pay both. Not unless they both give discounts. Doubt they do so.

I think it could work, at least for one more season, if we sign Dez at some point prior to the offseason and then tag Murray.

Dallas just needs to sign one of the two. Then just franchise the other.

Exactly the franchise tag on RB can't be that high.

Using a franchise tag on Murray probably won't be given serious consideration even if he remains the focal point of the offense for the rest of the season and*Dez Bryant, also in a contract year, signs a new deal. The running back franchise tag number will be around $11 million in 2015 with a cap increase next year similar to this year's 8.13 percent.

Now I'm not sure if that includes Ray Rices contract.

I think we will sign both of them. Murray is a complete back. The fumbles bug me but he is romo friendly.

We need both Murray and Dez, but if Murray can keep this up (or close to it) and play all 16 then we have to pay him. There's no way I'd let him go. Guys will have to restructure or we'll have to part with some. This offensive line, and that running back are our best chance of getting out of this hole we've been stuck in.

I just wish their was some way you could keep your own, kind of like the NBA. The cap kind of penalizes you for having good drafts. We have a lot of guys that are gonna be here a while. Im sold on Church now as well. If we draft them though, I think we should be able to go as high as the highest bidder for them and if they choose to leave then its on them. Dez kind of surprised me a little last night. I know at anytime during the fourth quarter he could have gotten loose and scored but that guy held his own with Dez, I thought anyway. I know Romo wanted to get him a TD at the end. I think Dez was a little frustrated because he was finally getting single coverage.

Sorry bit good drafts did not put us in this situation. Bad contracts and bad trades over the years did.

I don't understand Fran tagging being the answer if we cant afford.

Signing both of them long term is cheaper (in the short run) than signing one & fran tagging the other. If you sign them they usually get min. wage plus what ever piece of the signing bonus for next years cap. Which would be less than 11 million or whatever the fran tags are for these players.

Only reason I can see fran tagging either of them, is if we don't plan on having them long term. Both are young enough to sign long term even if we have to restructure one down the road. By then we will be on a rookie QB contract (hopefully) So if it is possible to sign one & fran tag the other then it is definitely doable to sign both. & signing both would make more sense.

Steven Jones always seems to find a way to work the cap. We'll have to wait and see.
