EAGLE LAKE, Minn. -
MSU Head Football Coach Todd Hoffner is now in custody... facing child p0rnography charges.
The 46-year-old coach was escorted off the practice field on Friday and subsequently placed on administrative leave.
Captain Rich Murry with the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office says, "He's currently been charged with probable cause arrest with two different counts based on possession of child p0rnography and an associated statute. The investigation is ongoing so that could change."
Investigators from the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office were busy searching Hoffner's home in Eagle Lake this afternoon.
Before leaving around two o'clock, they had towed away a car on the property as well.
Officials say that the alleged crime was first reported to the Mankato Police Department, who then turned the investigation over to the Sheriff's Office because Hoffner lived out of town.
Formal charges from the County attorney's office and a court appearance are expected tomorrow, or possibly Thursday.
MSU officials are meeting this evening, with a statement expected from the university sometime tonight.
So far MSU has not stated whether Hoffner's leave of absence is paid or unpaid.
Todd Hoffner compiled a 34-13 record over his first four seasons as head coach of MSU's football program, twice making it into the NCAA postseason.
