Can we all just admit that Smoak is the same player he's always been? Streaks of good for 3 or 4 games and then bad for 20 or 30 games.

i was really high on ramirez this year, thinking he was going to build on his 2012 success.

he's really hot and cold, which is to be expected, i guess. wondering where he'll end up settling by halfway into the season.

Couldn't possibly be that he's 3 of his last 23 (.130 BA) w/ 3 walks (.230 OBP) and 1 2B (.174 SLG) could it?

It's still just the month of April but you can't really fault those who are pessimistic over Smoak. Maybe this year it will be better, but let's be honest. Smoak has a lot of work to do to keep most Mariners fans away from that bandwagon. He makes it easy with those well documented collapses.

That's a little absurd.

Smoak has been awful for years and has never given any indication that he can pull himself together to really hit well for more than a handful of games. It's perfectly reasonable to be pessimistic towards him.

Seager has been the team-voted MVP the past couple of years, and only an idiot would start to slam him. He's done nothing but prove year in and out that he finds solutions to his problems.

smoak's incompetence is proven by a huge sample size.

we'll find out soon enough whether or not his current decent streak is another anomaly.

i'm thinking it's probably not, and that he will continue to improve this year and put together a solid season. johnfree is taking it a little too far, but i don't begrudge people for thinking a good-hitting smoak isn't real.
