Ever since we started the "bullpen" days, our bullpen has been very suspect when closing out games...
It’s almost like there is a reason they aren’t starters or long relievers.

I didn't plan on watching much of the game last night cuz I figured we'd get hosed, but we had it on while doing other stuff. Saw Hanniger get a couple hits and Lewis with a huge bomb and started thinking.....wtf?? Kikuchi was keeping the lid on things. Ended up watching the remaining game after K left with the tight back issue. I'm still blown away with a W against Oakland. Gilbert starting tonight so it might be a little bit different story this time, but I'm not jumping the gun, but tbh, I'm not expecting a repeat of Monday's game. :nono:

I was flipping between the Mariners game and the NBA playoffs last night and was impressed with Kikuchi last night. He was hitting 98 MPH on his fastball last night which I didn't even know he was capable of.

Never even thought to look because I never thought I'd see it, but Oakland's 2021 payroll is actually higher than Seattle's. These owners are actually cheaper than Nintendo.

Nintendo really wasn't cheap nor did they have any say in day-to-day operations which is ironic that are best years were with an ownership that didn't have control over their own team.

Not sure I’ve seen the catcher position cost a team so much defensively

Non Mariners news, but needed to add a little salt to our wounds.

It is unsung what the Rays GM is doing. This man has built an awesome team with 60 mil on the budget and has the best prospect in all of baseball in Wander Franco. This man should hold Baseball GM summits or something this is probably every owners dream GM. They would trade winning championships at a 60 mil payroll but still have an awesome team than a team like the LA Dodgers that won a chip but has a pay roll of 260 million

Back-to-back wins over Oakland??

What matter of sorcery is this?!

All that glitters is not gold.

Over a season long sampling period of games / matchups ... an inferior team will click on all cylinders and have some glimpses of greatness.

Kinda like a 22 handicapper in golf getting a birdie on a 195yd par 3. Once he tallies up all 18 holes most likely he shoots a 96. Yea he may have won a few skins on the lucky par 3 ... but hardly if ever is he gonna shoot a low 80s gross for the round.

All ballclubs have big league talent and are capable of flashes of greatness. The really good teams just do it with greater consistency over a season long schedule of 162 games. The teams that struggle to achieve that steady level of consistency end up with a w/ record of 70-92 and find themselves sitting on the couch in October watching other teams play in the post season.

Ownership wants to sell us on a pro team as we watch bullpen start number whatever with our non-prospect infielder playing outfield for his first time while trying to sweep the division rivals. I guess we didn't throw out the double catcher lineup finally.

So remind me again how we are only a year away from contending? No dominant SP, a bullpen that is meh, and a lineup that has more holes I it than Swiss cheese and we have maybe, and I mean maybe, 3 potential hitters who can contribute at a major league level that trickle through in the next 3 years. Add to the fact that of our current few major league hitters, Haniger and Seager could easily be gone in 2 to 3 years.

Sorry, I am banging my drum on this more than that annoying drum banging in Oakland.

I think the last two games with the Athletics were just a blip on the radar screen.

I'm just wondering how many seasons it will take before ownership realizes this so called "rebuild" isn't happening and decide to shit-can JD and his sidekick...or if they even care?

Ownership knows there is no rebuild happening. Rebuild is only used to keep the fans interested. There is no such thing as a rebuild. You are either trying to build a winner or you are only concerned about the money. Marketing at its best.

M's play 2 of their best games of the year only to have one of them wiped out with a High A roster rolled out. So Mariners.

2 outs in the 9th, up as the tying run and the #3 prospect in baseball pops out on a 2-0 count. Guy is gonna fit right in here.

I also think the 2 to 3 years on Seagar and Haniger could very well be 2 to 3 monthes.

Hope I'm wrong though because that means they arent serious about competing till at least 2023
