I was at the Miami/Washington game and clearly Alfred Morris ran at will against Miami...Our DLine is better than Miami's at this point. Those guys haven't played together as long as our DL has. Plus we have the depth with Hayes, Sims and Nick Farley.

Almost impossible to say because the right side of it is comprised of rookie Brandon Scherff and (2 yr) Morgan Moses who ended last year with a Lisfranc after very limited play.

Left side has Trent Williams at LT who's a beast and can handle anything, Lavaou (LG) who can be suspect and the weakest link At center, with smallish vet, Kory Lichtensteiger, who seems to get regularly mauled at least once a game.

Callahan has done an excellent job coaching them up and the very new right side handled Suh and Wake much better than anticipated. Pass protection is a work in progress but run blocking has been quite good...so far

I expect the Oline to slowly continue to improve as the year progresses but Rams DLine is going to be an enormous challenge this early on.

I work with this guy who is a huge Miami Dolphin fan, and all I've been hearing to this point is how their d-line is the best in football. I don't disagree with him as they are a pretty good "D" overall. I actually thought that they were going to throttle the Redskins only to see that there was nearly an upset. I did notice the Suh only had 2 tackles and Cameron Wake didn't have any numbers whatsoever. They were quiet all day and Miami barely beat Washington. Do you give credit to Washington's o-line?.... or is it just the terrible play of Miami's so called studs? This kid I work with said that he watched the game and said he saw chop blocking going on. I didn't see or hear anything about this, he was probably crying sour milk over a near upset. OBTW- I did see the play where Suh kicked Morris in the facemask, LOL, this looked suspect to me.

As far as Washington vs St Louis, this will make for some interesting match ups. Robert Quinn vs Trent Williams. Quinn will probably be held in check for most of the day. Quinn best move is how quickly he gets the edge. Trent Williams is a stud (no doubt), should be fun to watch. Aaron Donald is a beast in the A Gap + he has Brockers who is also playing real well line up next to him. Chris Long is above average and these guys have all played together for awhile now. These guys IMO played their best game vs Seatlle holding Marshon Lynch to just 73 yards. Only question being is can they do this consistently?

Scherff perfectly executed a few LEGAL cut blocks (not chop blocks) on Suh that were impressive. He is also a big, strong dude with a tough, physical nastiness about him that was one of the reasons we chose him as our #5 pick. I still expect a learning curve from him but he was pretty mistake free in his first game and I was happily wowed. Also Suh seemed winded pretty early, conditioning? Idk.

Moses had an excellent game containing Wake as well. He's shown the biggest improvement and also been a bit of a surprise. In the few snaps we saw of him last year (before he got injured with a season ending Lisfranc) he wasn't setting his base low enough and was losing leverage against his counterparts. Much better this year. We will see if that continues.

Callahan was amazing with coaching up and scheming the Oline against Miami. The conservative game plan and successful running game also helped as well as the fact that Kirk has a quick release with the ball.

Kory (C) was responsible for the 1 sack recorded in the game. I was as surprised as many by the Oline play. I didn't expect them to hold up so well this early in the season as the right side is still so young and that was a total mis match on paper on the right side.

One thing of note is that Scherff and Suh are both about power. Donald brings the element of Speed and agility. I'd argue he is playing at a higher level than Suh at this point in time. Different type of strategy/play to mitigate that type of skill set. Going to be a challenge for sure.

The depth of your DLine is why I think y'all are better than Miami and why this is going to be so tough a match up. As you stated, it's not just Donald, it's Long, Quinn and others.

I love watching the trenches and it will be fascinating to see how these matchups will play out.

Winning this game is really key for the Rams. Beating a team they're suppose to is that next step they need to take. The Rams have been able to beat the Seattle's of the world more often than not, but they have had huge letdowns against teams that were either on par or worse than them. Foles and Co. need to give the defense an early lead so they can step on their throat and impose their will on the Washington team.

We need a pick 6 out of the gate or a fumble. Defense has to come out swingin.

Ill be the first to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of Scherff coming out in the draft last year because I thought he looked like a G/T hybrid that wasn't really destined to be great at either position. While he isn't a mauler, his calling card is having a ton of functional strength and it looks like he did a great job against Suh which is a pretty amazing way to spend your first game as a pro. I think the Donald/Scherff matchup could go either way though I do suspect that Donald might cause 1 or 2 offsides penalties on the Redskins oline because the initial jump is going to be everything.

I think as a Rams fan you hope that Brockers and Long are the guys stepping up on the dline against the Skins but my general expectation is that Washington is going to run at Quinn. Cousins and Gruden have to keep the Rams Safeties and Linebackers guessing or else the Rams will load up on the obvious stuff.

I also think as a Rams fan that you hope that the Rams can win this game with offense. Foles had two pretty big games with the Eagles the last 2 times he played Washington so you have to think that maybe some of that translates into the Rams' system.

The Rams seem like they are solid road favorites for the first time in awhile. They should be the favorites but this is still a team that put the ball on the field 3 times last Sunday and they gave up a Special Teams TD last Sunday. Its definitely a cautious optimism in the STL/LA club.

The picks that are directly linked to the Skins trade are good/above average.

The double trade down helped the Rams get additional picks to cover need areas, but then they went a bit to far in the 2nd and missed on their guy ( and it wasn't Jeffries they wanted-it was Wagner ). Pead was a reach and has been largely a bust. Rok was a bust but as a 5th rounder, it's not that big of a deal. Jenkins was great his rookie year, but has been hit and miss since.

The trade up for Austin has been a huge question mark. They gave up a 2nd to get him and missed out on some great talent that would've helped the team more than Austin has. They could've stayed put at 16 and taken Hopkins. Then, in the 2nd, there was Le'Veon Bell that went 2 picks after the Rams turned Bills pick.

The following year I was hoping for a trade down from #2 because Robinson did not look like a Walter Jones/Orlando Pace prospect. Sure fire OT's. Jury is still out on him. I'm sure Buffalo called since they wanted Watkins ( which they did end up trading up for ). They could've moved down to 10 and taken Lewan or Donald and then at 13 taken Donald if they went Lewan or Martin ( who they wanted to trade up for ). That would've given them another 1st rounder this last draft.

Obviously, you aren't going to hit pay dirt every pick, but had they not gotten too trade happy in 2012 or 2013, but did in 2014, the team would look quite different.

Brockers, Jenkins, Wagner, Hopkins, Ogletree, Bell, Lewan/Donald or Donald/Martin. Then, who knows what they would've done this past draft. Maybe they still take Gurley to pair with Bell since they would've had the Bills pick as well.

But, as has been mentioned, the trade allowed the Rams to fill holes so that they could use their original picks on luxury BPA's like Donald and Gurley.

I believe Scherf plays on the right side, so doesn't that mean he will line up against Brockers?

Reasons I see the Skins winning.

1. After last years whopping and Fisher's "gamesmanship" with the team captains, I can see the Skins having more of an attitude for this game than the Rams.

2. The Rams could be overconfident, beating the Seahawks gets you good press, reading too much into it can bring over confidence.

3. The Rams coming off an emotional high for divisional win, can the Rams really sustain the same energy for a non divisional game.

4. Road game for the Rams, record is bleak this last decade, road winning percentage is even bleaker.

Back to back shut outs. Only threat is Havenstein side vs think it's Kerrigan on D. They have no home run hitters on O on outside there slow af without DJax. Plus they have a bunch of guys banged up suspended or out. This gm wont be close this locker room has been waiting for this opportunity and there gonna be super hyped going into this gm Was. doesnt have enough only reason they played Miami close was becuz they had 6 mos. to plan watch how bad they look this week vs. Our D and our weapons on O with Foles leading the charge. 2ND week teams fall back off. Mason will be back and we might see the debut of the kid Gurley been hearing they say this kid is the truth. I'll bet we see him get some snaps.
Check out how excited Fischer is about him and what he says about him in this Podcast of Mike & Mike today..

This is the game that defines our season. If we can't curb stomp the worst team in the league, then we have no reason to be in the playoffs. This is the game that puts the rams back on the map.

I think the game will be a little closer than some expect. 24-14, late td puts it away.

Good call eyes of the snake! I saw it coming too, but I wouldn't have predicted the score as close as you did!
Well done sir!

I've stopped trying to figure this team out.

Fishers good teams will always be around 8-8 because he doesn't get his players ready for every game. His bad teams?

Now we have Pittsburgh
