Interstellar (11/7/14) - Christopher Nolan/Matthew McConaughey/Casey Affleck/Matt Damon
- Any Christopher Nolan film is highly anticipated for me. This one in particular being about space travel and worm holes hints at a crazy concept similar to Inception. I also like the fact that he's using less of an all star cast (Leonardo Dicaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, etc) which could suggest that this will be less of a blockbuster and more story/character driven
The Equalizer (9/26/14) - Denzel Washington/Antoine Fuqua/Chole Grace Moretz
- Denzel is bound for a come back. He's had a series of good movies in the past 5-6 years but he hasn't had a truely great movie since Inside Man. For the first time since Training Day, Denzel teams up once again with Antoine Fuqua for The Equalizer. So far the synopsis suggest a bad ass Denzel. I'm hoping this is one of those great Denzel films.
X-Men Days of Future Past (5/23/14) - Michael Fassbender/Hugh Jackman/James Mcavoy/Ian Mckellan/Patrick Stewart
- This is Sony's answer to The Avengers...a star studded X-Men movie combining the old with the new. I don't know about you guys but I felt ilke Ian Mckellen and Patrick Stewart were perfect casting for Prof X and Magneto...but Fassbender and McAvoy as Magneto and Prof X is almost as good if not better in some aspects...and now they're throwing them all in one movie PLUS Wolverine, Storm, Beast, etc. The only thing that would make this movie better is if they threw in Cyclops or Gambit
Noah (3/28/13) - Darren Aronofsky/Russell Crowe
- Huge fan of Aronofsky's vision as a director. Ever since seeing PI and Requiem for a Dream I have been a fan. Then he went on to make The Wrestler and Black Swan. He's easily one of my top 3-4 favorite directors. The subject matter of Noah is definitely intriguing but I am more so interested to see Aronofsky's vision and what he's able to do with it.
Untitled Godzilla Film (5/16/14) - Bryan Cranston/Aaron Taylor-Johnson/Ken Watnabe
- I was skeptical of this when it was first announced but after seeing the teaser (which surfaced then got taken down, but I was able to download it) I was completely sold. It looks like Warner Bros is taking a more realistic take on Godzilla. From the teaser it looks nothing like the goofy Godzilla movies we've seen in the past. This one looks like a film that depicts Japan as if a real life Godzilla had ravaged the country and it shows the horrific aftermath of it. I'm hoping this film is rated R. The teaser so far indicates it might be. Oh and Heisenberg is in it!
The Hobbit There and Back Again (12/17/14) - Ian Mckellan/Martin Freeman/Orlando Bloom
- I'm actually more excited for Desolation of Smaug with Benedict Cumberbatch playing the role of Smaug, but the epic finale to the trilogy...we'll see what Peter Jackson has under his sleeves. The Hobbit is such a short book...I'm still surprised it was able to get stretched to 3 movies.
Honorable Mentions
- Gone Girl (David Fincher/Ben Affleck)
- Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (Josh Brolin/Joseph Gordon-Levitt/Bruce Willis/Mickey Rourke)
- Transcendence (Wally Pfister...Chris Nolan's right hand man/Johnny Depp/Cillian Murphy)
