Remember McNabb's 2012 comments about RG3 not being a good fit with Shanahan, because of Shanny's ego?

Even though your talent was gone when you arrived in Washington, your years of NFL experience gave you the insight to "call a spade a spade" in regards to Shanahan.

Don't know if he was lucky or had insight, but he turned out to be right. He just wasn't the right deliverer of the message. Too much recent history of which he had a huge role in his failure here.

Shanahan's ego wasn't to blame...RG3's was.

They both had huge egos and neither were mature enough to work it out. They chose to fight each other through the press. At least Robert can say he was only 23 and can mature.....Mike has no excuse.

There's a lot of bitter feelings by McNabb. He was butt hurt when the Eagles traded him and he's been butt hurt every time a QB signs a contract at today's going rate.

The coach runs the team. The player, plays for the coach. It's not the coaches responsibility to "get along." It's the players responsibility to play for the coach.

No, but it is the coach's responsibility to address problems before they explode. He didn't do that. He brooded. Then as the year was imploding, he went on a smear campaign, having snippets leaked that were negative about the owner and the QB. He was also trying to deflect blame and save his rep. It was an immature way to handle the situation and he deserved to be fired for that alone. Of course his record made the decision easy.

If he had backbone, he would have sat RG3 down before the season and laid down the rules. He would have made it clear that he is the coach, he determines who plays, and he calls the plays that he believes gives them the best chance to win. Finally, he expects Robert to run those plays to the best of his ability. A little preemptive management may have gone a long way.
