Most popular pick here at #16

Asssuming no trade, who would be the most popular pick at #16 on this board?

Nothing to do with who you think we will take or who you actually want. Ignore guys that aren't likely to be there.

First off, has to be defense because a lot here will be unhappy with any Offensive player. I still can't believe some people would be disappointed with Barr, but I need to knock him out because a lot don't want him. Safeties: too much uncertainty over which we would take so I knock them out. I think people overreact to the idea we won't take a 1 tech in the first so I need to knock all of them out. Linebackers have the same problem as safeties - no consensus. That leaves us with a few of the DEs and Donald. I don't think the DEs are popular enough to make everyone happy. Let's assume Donald may be there (I think he's gone). I know Manster and a couple of others don't want him, but I do think Donald would be an extremely popular pick here so I need to go with him.

If everyone agrees that Donald would be the most popular, then who do you think would be the second most popular pick?

Donald. Now who do we target if we trade down with Cleveland or San Fran? I think Hagemin could be a sleeper pick late in the 1st. There is some major potential with him. I see him as both a 1 and 3 tech. If he learns to play lower he could be a force. Jernigan could also fall to 47.

I would slide Barr ahead of Pryor, maybe even Lewan. But I'm with you for the most part. I like Pryor, but I think he is a SS. We have plenty of those. Although, if the other options are off the board, I think Pryor could play FS a helluva lot better than the guys we have now.

I agree with you on Pryor. I like him too, I just don't know if I like him enough for us because I too see him as a SS. I won't be unhappy with him, but I will be very interested to see him in coverage and to see his instincts. I am warming to the idfea of taking him more than I was a while back, but I want someone to convince me that he can play centerfield a little too.

Do we know how much seperation there is talent-wise between Clinton-Dix and Pryor? Reading up on the 2, if all things are fairly even, I like Pryor better. The weaknesses Clinton-Dix has seem like they will be exploited more frequently in the NFL.

My "guy" has always been Clinton-Dix nothing has changed my opinion of him.
Donald is a freak ... but we have Melton ... Still don't think you can pass on him if he is there. makes him rotational this year ... but keeps us from having to pay Melton next year.

opinions vary some have Pryor as the better safety of the two .... Not me. But I badly want to see the position addressed EARLY
I'm fine with taking Donald in the first because Watkins will be there in the 2nd (Cb in college projected FS in the NFL) and I would be all for it if it went like that.
Love this draft ... because if Jerry is still in love with Wilcox and doesn't go safety I think Kareem Martin will be there for us in the 2nd

of the safeties I would want Ward. from the readings he is the best centerfielder & could play against the slot WR. Which would be nice not have to change personnel for the slot. The other two may bigger hitters but I don't care for that right now. All three can tackle from what I read.
Trade back & get Ward late in the 1st or early 2nd if we landed that type of pick in the trade back.

Think it is gonna be real hard for Jerry to screw this years draft up

Shouldn't be upset no matter who we end up with in the 1st.
