From 2013 to 2015, it looked like he was improving every year offensively and was always good defensively. He was on fire the last 1/2 of the season on the Cardinals.

Odds are Heyward is going to bounce back and hit .280 next year and win another Gold Glove. I'd love for him to get benched again, though.
Exactly. He was getting better every year after his sophomore slump. Leading into his age 26 season, a natural progression into his prime is what seemed to be happening. Getting his age 26-33 seasons for $23 million per year on average, was a good move.

Well you're including the first year of the contract.

He was a .784 OPS guy (114 OPS+ and 118 wRC+) who also could steal 20+ bags at an almost 90% rate. Also playing exceptional defense. Also, since he came up to the big leagues so early, he was hitting free agency at 26 years old. So in hindsight it looks bad at first, but at only $23 million per year on average for ages 26-33 (prime years), it really was a good deal.

Only $23 mil for a guy that is a very good baserunner and fielder yet you can't trust him at the plate. Yes, it's only the first year of his contract but whatever way you want to put it he isn't worth half that. Still a top 10 contract and he wasn't close to a top 10 player.

He probably will, just was never a huge fan of him. Still overrated. He will have to have an exceptional year to make up for the bad one and continue to play well for at least a couple years to make the contract somewhat worthy of his play.

He wasn't a liability at the plate until this year. A .350+ OBP with above average power, add in the baserunning and exceptional defense, and the fact that $23 million isn't really that much anymore. For current contracts, it's tied for 18th in highest AAV

And look at the guys ahead of him and what age they'll be when the contract is up:

Greinke ($34.4): 38
Cabrera ($31.0): 40
Price ($31.0): 37
Kershaw ($30.7): 33
Scherzer ($30.0): 37
Cespedes ($27.5): 35
Lester ($25.8): 37
Verlander ($25.7): 37
Stanton ($25.0): 38
Hernandez ($25.0): 34
Strasburg ($25.0): 35
Trout ($24.1): 29
Cano ($24.0): 41
Pujols ($24.0): 42
Hamels ($24.0): 35

It's not a bad contract considering the market right now, his age, and his production leading up to the deal.

You can say that but I'm glad the Cardinals don't have him

I'm sure plenty of teams are happy they don't have him. As a Red Sox fan I'm glad we don't have him because Betts is better and cheaper. As a Cardinals fan, I'm sure you are fine with Piscotty. For the Cubs though? If they knew he would have that bad of a year, sure, they wouldn't want him. But that's just hindsight. I'm talking about the deal when it was made.

Did you not see where I said you have to be in "great shape" to do this.. Not many people can
I guess you missed the part where I bolded all your left turn references. F-1 doesn't race on ovals.

If the Rams release Tavon Austin after the 2017 season it will have cost them $18,731,227 and whatever compensatory pick they would have gotten for losing him after 2016.

No race car driver should really be included in this list.......given that a mistake can cause death.
