Are we supposed to account for whether or not they are worhty of said hype? I ask, as you can probably not turn on a 1 hour "baseball tonight" and not hear a story or 2 about Miguel Cabrera.

However, he is kind of worth it, so.....?

But the way they talk about him he has been doing it consistently for 5-7 years or in about to be in the HOF. He is all they talk about on SC for baseball

Nobody says anything except what he's accomplished this season and there isn't another rookie close to him and he is putting up better numbers than all but a few others in the entire league--plus he's doing it in all 5 tool categories./
The Dodgers were dead last when he joined them and are now 12 games up--and he's responsible for a great deal of that.

I guess what I'm basing it on is hype vs. production so it'd be tough to say Harper, Puig, Trout.

Puig wasn't solely responsible for the Dodgers turnaround, we got a few players coming off injuries around the same time (Hanley Ramirez for one who has put up better numbers than Puig) but he is not overrated. The number one thing I've heard about Puig is that he makes a big play every game, which is true. No rookie comes close to him, I'd take him over Harper any day too.
