so far. I'm still of the opinion KC is a backup in this league, but he's shown signs of growth and consistency which is encouraging to everyone who's a Redskins fan. So can Kirk be the man?

Make no mistake, Cam Newton's Carolina Panthers are a real good football team. To those that say "the Panthers have played a weak schedule" please remember this team has won 13 straight regular season NFL games. 13 in a row…wow

It's nice to see the Skins have decent health on both sides of the ball for Sunday's game. With any resemblance of a running attack, this will come down to KC's QB play.

To quote the great Rick Flair "to be the man, you have to beat the man". Cam Newton's clearly the man. But a Redskins win on Sunday will go a long way to entertaining the thought that maybe, just maybe we have "the man" at our QB position.

I actually think KC is a starter in this league and can be a good one.

The Panthers are a good football team. End of story...nothing else needs to be added.

I don't expect much of the rushing attack this week. There is no reason to believe in them after one good game in the last what...7 weeks. That's where the problem is. It will all come down on KC this week against a very good defense.

ITs a win-win for KC and here his why. If he does well then KC will be anointed the franchise QB of the Redskins. It would be a statement game for KC. IF he doesn't do well we shouldn't read to much into it b/c we are not supposed to beat CAR with there great defense.

KC proved that he is a starter in this league. He is going to be signed back with us. The contract will depend on how well he finishes and if he takes this team to the playoffs by winning the division. Lets hope he kills it tomorrow so we can put the bed of all the controversy of the QB position on our team.

I really don't understand why people think ONE game defines a player.

Sportster, if KC puts up the numbers like he did last week tomorrow, you don't think that would make a difference?

It would be great. It doesn't define his career. He could crap his pants the remainder of the season and then how important would the Carolina game be?

In 2012 Griffin had was rookie of the year, what has that done for him since. That was an entire year. You don't make career decisions based on one game.

We should've picked up Weeden. I've been told he's better :noidea:

I don't either, that's why I said "so far".

But I do believe there are game defining moments in a career…and IMO, this is one of them for KC.

sportster, b/c there are some people on here like mitziman who don't believe KC is the real deal. If he torches Car tomorrow it should change the minds of a lot of people.

Neither do I. If KC kills it tomorrow and then sucks swollen blue whale nuts the next 2 weeks. Will those thinking tomorrow is the end all, be all completely dismiss his last 2 games?

Regardless what happens tomorrow. The process continues............

There's no doubt that KC is a starter in the NFL........he's already that here in DC. The question is how do you quantify him per league standards. We are currently witnessing some of the worse QB play league wide this year and by those standards he is no doubt starter material here and else where. However, forgoing this years standard and relying on a metric that includes next level players who have over time provided CONSISTENT above average play (previous franchise guys) you'll have to admit that he's not there yet, (therefore still a backup but rising by league standards for franchise guys). After all, if we're trying to see if he is the franchise guy the metric MUST be.......compared to what?

real deal? When i think "real deal" at the QB position in the NFL names like Brady, Brees and Rodgers come to mind. Not KC, at least not yet.

Has KC had games that look like he might be in the top half of the NFL at his position? He has. And I will be absolutely thrilled if that's how it turns out. If the Redskins "believe" he's a top 15 QB, they sign him to a new deal. If they don't "believe" it, they should let him go.

But seriously dean, the only real deal at this point…KC is the best QB on our roster.

As someone pointed out earlier, the evaluation for KC is a process. I'm certainly not comfortable saying he has arrived, even if he has another great game tomorrow. The guy has barely played a fuLl season. All we can hope for is continued growth. He needs to prove consistency. He needs to prove he can throw down the field accurately. He needs to continue to hone his skills in reading defenses. This game against Carolina is just the next step in his growth. Oh yeah, expect this growth to contain a bad game here and there. After all, some of the best lessons learned are from mistakes. He still has a few to make.

The reason tomorrow is so important is to see if the growth is experience related or opponent related. Plenty of people talked about how we shouldn't be excited over a perfect passer rating against New Orleans.

He is the only one to do that this season against them.

A lot of people think the game against the Saints was a fluke. So if he has that same game against Carolina he is not the real deal? KC is just not getting credit. Do I think he will kill it tomorrow? No. But if he does he will be the talk of the NFL. The Redskins are going to sign him next year. The only question would be how much would he get.

Well, rg3 had a bunch of great games in 2012.....was he the real deal? Matt cassell had a bunch of great games the year Brady was out. Was he the real deal?

apples and oranges jy19. Some people on here want to look elsewhere for a QB in 2016. I think that would be a huge mistake. KC proved he can win and come from behind in the NFL. He can run Grudens offense. He deserves an extension.

How is it apples and oranges? Most everyone thought Robert was the next star of the NFL. The point is that KC still has much to prove before we can claim him as arrived (whatever that means). now I am very happy with what we have seen from KC this year and think he has the chance to be a good QB in this league. But he still has a way to go before we can crown him. But if he continues to play like he has over the last month, then I agree we should re sign him. I also believe we should try and draft his replacement and start grooming him.

I don't think KC's performance against the Saints was a fluke. Of course he, along with the entire team deserve credit for an absolutely outstanding performance.

But this game tomorrow is very, very winnable. And its why IMO, its the most important game in KC's young career. If the team plays well, and KC delivers the goods then we might have something. If the team plays well, and KC doesn't, then I will be concerned.
