Nah, Lacrosse is cool, just not popular.

Personally, I can't watch an entire game of lacrosse. It's like hockey, except it's not as fast, it's even harder to follow the ball, it's kind of choppy, and a lot of the time people are just standing around until a play ultimately develops to a one-on-one or a two-player attack. Plus, the ball is inside of a partial enclosure - that doesn't really encourage open play. Find another sport where the ball is contained at like that. It's very odd. It makes it difficult to play actual defense. It's like hockey without the speed and flow and soccer without the grace.

I wish I enjoyed it, because I grew up in Maryland and the sport is as popular here as anywhere else (it's our "state team sport") and our local universities have a slew of national titles and deep tourney runs, but I think it's a poorly designed sport.

Its def a preppy sport that just isn't commercialized. I wish I grew up in some of the towns here in CT that had it in H.S., but it is an expensive sport to run a team, so my school was like nope. It is hard to follow, but it is a blend of hockey and soccer for sure. My cousins BF is huge into Lacrosee in Long Island. He coaches a team I believe.

Everyone here seems to be going with sickest hands = best athlete

I disagree with that. Best athlete is the overall athletic ability not just a crazy goal once in a while. For hockey, I look at speed, hitting, toughness, hands, shooting power, shooting accuracy, etc.

To narrow some of it down as far as skating, the guys who can accelerate and decelerate the fastest get the edge over just top speed. These guys are very noticable in NHL as they're usually the scoring forward and d-men.

It's tough to say with goalies as some of the best have trouble skating backwards around the rink, but we won't count that.

Tha answer is OV. Realistically the guy is built like a tank, is able to skate with anybody, hits, and scores.

It was pretty popular at Duke a few years ago...

Not popular enough to get you laid, apparently...

/you guys do know that they were all acquitted and that the woman was found to be lying the whole time, right?

edit: I tried to r*pe.. er, rep you, but it said I needed to spread rep around first. I was going to put in the comment box "It was so popular it practically forced itself down my throat".

But Nancy Grace said they did it, that mean they are guilty.

I actually did a 15 page report in a sports law class about this case, pretty amazing they were even convicted.

Uh... I'm confused. Do you mean indicted? Or is the poster above you wrong. I don't even remember the verdict anymore. I mostly remember the prosecutor being a complete ass.
