We’re Phillies guys so I thought maybe a Phillie name.
Not this time. I actually don't actively try to use questions with Phillies but I am kind of biased towards the 70s and 80s so Schmidt and Carlton pop up a lot since they were good players in that time period.

2 left. One of them kind of reminds me of Stanton because I mix up his name a lot. The other was an extreme power hitter who put up video game like RBI totals. One of the all time greats, but lost about 4 full years to military service and retired at 36 so doesn't have crazy counting stats.

So far 5 of 6 guessed. Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, Belle, Stanton. Last guy is a Hall of Famer who's career was interrupted by military service.

Correct! Albert "don't call me Joey" Belle. Or was it the other way around. I forget if he was Albert first or Joey first.
You helped me out with your even more well liked quip haha. I can’t remember all the stories but all the Cleveland guys that post here could probably run through them for us.

it was definitely Joey Belle first

when i was VERY little I was at a game in old Municipal where Albert chucked the ball at a fan who was calling him Joey.

If you mean Belle stories (and was Joey first), so many but what comes to mind are he threw a ball at a fans' chest once (great throw FYI) who was heckling him. Pretty sure he threw one at a reporter, as well. Berated Hannah Storm before a WS game. Took a bat to many AC units in the clubhouse.

One of the best was when the WS accused him of having a corked bat Jason Grimsley decided he'd break into the umpire room to replace it (climbed through ceiling). Issue was they said ALL his bats were corked and they had to replace it with someone else's bat which you could imagine did not play well when they found it in the room after game to check it.

Played bball with him once at a JCC. Seemed like a nice guy...but not too good at basketball.
