Shawn Lalonde, a defenseman who played with the Rockford Ice Hogs last year, appeared in one game for the Blackhawks in the 2013 and was a restricted free agent, has signed to play with Germany's Polar Bear Berlin team.

That's surprising. I thought the Hawks had given him a qualifying offer? Maybe a victim of the numbers game? If so, speaks well to the depth coming up.
