At this point can't do anything. Maybe if he has another game like this you make a move, but not yet. First Latu and now Moody, oh boy?! the 2023 draft class is not looking good, granted we started to pick in the LATE 3rd.

Wouldn't Moody himself have a say on if he's ready or not? I would guess he wanted to get back and the medical Staff agreed.

They can't just cut him now because it validates the bad draft decision. They'll bring in competition during the off-season, and then cut him.
He missed another one today and made one of the ugliest kicks I’ve seen this season. He’s gone. He’ll b sign with another team and make the game winning kick against the 49ers

He isn’t going anywhere. He will finish out his rookie contract at a minimum. Before his injury he was 13-14, since then he has stunk, clearly his injury is not healed. Add in the fact that we need to save everything we have to sign Brock and a good O Line, and all signs point to keeping a bottom 5 kicker salary.

And what did I say that is wrong? He has a high ankle sprain. That injury takes months to recover from. It is a separation of the tibia from the fibula, an extension of the tendons holding the bones together. What on earth could be more important to the plant leg of a kicker but the strength and rigidity of the plant leg. Moody will not be cut.

And let’s be serious, this year his salary ranks as 23rd highest, next year it is currently the 21st highest with 5 teams not having a kicker at the moment. The average kicker salary is $3,103,447 for 2024 and $3,980,490 next year, Moody’s salary is 39% and 36% of that average. In a year we need to rebuild our offensive line, and sign Purdy who could be signed for the top 5 average of $66MM, when we have $63MM in cap space.

He is completely unreliable. Has been ever since he choked on that game winning chip shot against Cleveland. His confidence is gone and it’s time to move on. I wish him well wherever he goes except when he plays against the 49ers

haaa, no doubt.

He may just get his mind righted by next season, unfortunately the 49ers can't take that chance.

A rookie contract is 4 years, so he'll be entering his 3rd next season. You're saying we'll keep him for the next two seasons to mainly save money? Yes, another reason is getting healed 100% but your main reason is to save money?

The 49ers expect to be a play-off team next season, so you can't go into the season with a questionable Kicker. Moody will only have TC and 3 Pre-games to prove it, but these are not the same as real games. He'd have to be 'perfect' thru the 3 Pre-season games for the 49ers to even consider keeping him.

The plant is certainly important and it does need to be strong. I can believe he came back less than 100% in the first game back, but don't believe by much? He might've been say 98% or 96%? I don't believe he came back at say 80%? So the injured reason is a factor but not a big one as the season continued.

For kickers their mental state is especially big, and Moody's is understandably shot. His mental state isn't easy to fix but even if he does, not much opportunity to prove it.

Zane Gonsalez or someone similar to him, won't break the cap either? I doubt a FA kicker will cost much more than Moody?

I guess we can always start off the season with Moody, and cut him if he's still inconsistent? But by then it may or may not be one or two losses to start the season. Even one early lost due to the missed FG, is big.

Yep, that 41 yard miss against Cleveland, might've been the catalyst?

Its not only about Moody, what about the other players? If they need a game winner and see yet another miss from 41 yards, what does that do?

He just puts off a negative bad vibe just with his body language and facial expression. He knows he’s going to miss

It hurts to see yet another 3rd round pick go down the drain, but that's the fault of our Front Office, not Moody. Our poor performance of our Front Office during drafts, have caught up. Poor drafts in '21, '22, and '23, and that's even if you factor in the drafting positions. still poor.

All drafts are crucial but this next one is more so because you're also making up for previous poor picks.

There is 2 sides to this, Moody still has the confidence of the front office, or it’s money. We have no idea if he is still injured, or if he is 100%. What we do know is this type of injury takes months to fully heal at times.

We have also decided to keep Moody instead of Carlson, and Wright. Why? It’s clearly not performance after the injury. If his confidence is gone, the FO would see it. So it is either he is still injured, and planting is still a problem, or the FO is concerned about the salary and having to resign Brock. The only logical reason to keep a kicker in the NFL if you do not believe in him. There is something that Lynch and Co see, or they are concerned about spending $5MM per year to get an above average kicker.

I don’t pretend to know what the issue is, but I did see a vid break down of him that made it appear that he actually had a number of his kicks affected by REALLY bad snaps/placements.
