Monday Night Football: Texans @ Chargers 10:15 ET

I know. Strange. Calvin Johnson and Brandon Marshall will surpass that in the next 5 years more than likely. Anyway, pretty interesting game. The Texans' defense woke up, and of course, Andre put in a clutch performance. Not what I expected though. I'm sure they'll clean up their mistakes and be the team that we think they are soon enough. Especially once Ed Reed gets out there.

Starting defensive end was out tonight as well for the stunt he pulled against Incognito. Defense should look a lot better after it hits full strength.


Hopefully the run game improves some.

Would be amazed if Calvin doesn't break that record.

As someone whose been there many times, I can tell you that getting out of Qualcomm and getting on the 15 after events is a BITCH. I don't envy those people one bit.

Sounds a lot like Reliant after a game. That's why you have a cooler in your vehicle with some beer to wait out the traffic and listen to post game for an hour or so.

I know...I lived in so-cal for many yrs before moving up here to the bay area....don't miss that aspect of it at all.

I never thought it would be a blown 21 point lead, but I pretty much called this on page 1 of this thread when I said I was glad it was a late start and most of the country would be asleep by halftime and not see what I feared was coming.

The Chargers are too thin. They have some talent but don't have guys to rotate and were just out of gas. Houston did a nice job sticking to the run game and holding the ball to keep the defense on the field, then just wore them down.

This likely won't be the only blown lead of the year. The depth will be exposed weekly. The Chargers aren't a playoff threat this year, so I'm not opposed to landing a high draft pick.

The mood here is shock and dismay. The Chargers were up 28-7 with 3:00 to go in the 3rd and collapsed again. They need to decide right now if they want to compete or not this season. This is bullshit. They need to take a serious look at play calling and clock management. They should have been in clock-eating mode and running for first downs.

Was it just me or was every single running play an inside hand off up the gut? It's like they didn't get the full playbook implemented. If there's one thing Mathews is good at it's beating guys to the edge and running in space. With the Texans LBs protecting the middle and taking away the short slants (literally in one case) I've gotta believe there were some opportunities there.

Honestly I think we just have to be realists and understand that a ton has changed with this team. This year will be spent learning and tweaking. And if Telesco takes anything but an offensive lineman in the first round of the next two drafts he should be fired.

I don't necessarily think that would have changed the outcome. The defense was gassed and the Texans had time at the end to go all the way in for a TD. Agree, nice to see it acknowledged though.
