I used our pick selections from last year and gave us a 3rd Round comp, pick 97th, for losing Micheal Johnson and Anthony Collins. I thought about going DE in the 1st Round but considering that they spent a 2nd on Margus Hunt and a 3rd on William Clark the Bengals will most likely build up the interior of their D-line.

1st Round (24th)- Malcom Brown DT 6'3½" 317 Texas
2nd Round (55th)- Eric Kendricks ILB 5'11⅝" 231 UCLA
3rd Round (88th)- Jarvis Harrison OG 6'3¾" 325 Texas A&M
3rd Round (97th) comp- Phillip Dorsett WR 5'10" 182 Miami (FL)
4th Round (111th)- Doran Grant CB 5'10¼" 196 Ohio State
5th Round (164th)- Nick Boyle TE 6'4⅜" 271 Delaware
6th Round (212th)- Clayton Geathers S 6'1⅜" 206 UCF
7th Round (239th)- Jake Smith OC 6'3¼" 312 Louisville
7th Round (252nd) comp- Shaq Riddick DE 6'5⅜" 242 West Virginia

I really like Phillip Dorsett. Gonna be yet another good WR from the U. Didn't stand out as much as he should because Al Golden is a horrible coach.

We are not getting a 3rd round compensatory pick.

We lost both Micheal Johnson and Anthony Collins and didn't sign any free agent replacements. The Steelers received a 3rd Round pick for Mike Wallace, why wouldn't we get a comp pick for those guys?

Maybe the league is refusing to reward Mike Brown for being an assclown and refusing to spend up the the cap threshold? Wishful thinking haha. I have no clue why the Bengals didn't get a pick for those two guys.

My understanding is that the formula includes playing time and playing performance (including postseason honors). Though this clearly didn't impact the Wallace case as he wasn't very good with the Dolphins.

My assumption is that we would get two comp picks - 4th round and beyond. Guess we'll see.

would the DT help our DE's get more of a pass rush?

I"m assuming so, if he's the best player on the board at the time.
that would be my primary concern, since our pass rush is the most glaring deficit on the team.

Love the first 2 picks tho I don't think either fall to us at our pick. I didn't bother with comp picks since I don't know what we will be getting yet. I like Dorsett too. We have to take a DE early with Hunt not progressing and Heathers sucking.

Since 2011 we've used early picks (rounds 1-3) on Moch, Still, Hunt, and Clarke. Who Dey!

Moch was too small. Marv can make him a linebacker.

Hunt was too raw. Marv can teach him to play football.

Clarke was too small. Marv can bulk him up.

When has a Marvin 'project' pick ever worked? Stacy Andrews maybe?

Burkhead. He was our 2014 season playoff MVP!

not disagreeing with your premise, but Clark was 6'6 and 270 coming out. Not sure he was ever too small.

Yet, our coaching staff didn't play him more than a handful of plays because they wanted him to bulk up?
