List your favorite team, their draft picks, and then pick out your top 5 favorite picks.

I'll start the ball rolling.

Buffalo Bills
Gregory Rousseau - 30th pick, 1st round, DE, Miami
Boogie Basham - 61st, 2nd round, DE, Wake Forest
Spencer Brown - 93rd, 3rd round, OT, Northern Iowa
Tommy Doyle - 161st, 5th round, OT, Miami of Ohio
Marquez Stevenson - 203rd, 6th round, WR, Houston
Damar Hamlin - 212th, 6th round, S, Pittsburgh
Rashad Wildgoose - 213th, 6th round, CB, Wisky
Jack Anderson - 236th, 7th round, G, Texas Tech

Favorite picks would be Rousseau, Boogie, Brown, Stevenson, and Wildgoose.

Stevenson can be used as a returner and a deep threat. Not sure why it lasted until the 6th round. The kid looks legit.

I am very satisfied with the picks. B to A- range.

I was.

Get a Gadget player that is being compared WITH ONE OF THE ELITE WRS IN THE GAME RIGHT NOW.

Get a CB that has alot of positive traits and not shaying away from being Competitive and has a bit of swagger.

And a T that can ACTUALLY PASS BLOCK.

And a few hidden gems in UDFA.

I'd Say B- because it would have been nice to get a pass rusher but I luv the haul

Seattle had barely any picks but I found our offseason and draft interesting.

Seattle went back to a ground pound style of offense last year and Pete moved away entirely from passing. Now granted he and Schottenheimer didn't see eye to eye (Schotty no longer here) so whatever. That said...

Seattle:
1) Spent their 1st pick (a 2nd rounder they did not trade back) on a speedy WR. These guys generally require some protection so they can stretch routes/the field.
1a) Ignored 2 great centers on board and kept their injury prone one who is a good pass blocker but terrible run blocker.
2) Drafted an OT later who is a pretty good pass blocker but horrible run blocker.
3) Signed a TE (from the Rams) who is a pretty good receiver but lackluster run blocker.
4) Traded for Gabe Jackson who despite a down year has ALWAYS been a better pass blocker than run blocker.
5) Spent a good chunk of money on extending Lockett.
6) Their best UDFA was a WR and one of the top UDFAs taken.
7) Waived a 5th year option on the 1st round RB Penny taken back in 2018.

SOOOO.... if Seattle's PLAN is to run, run, pass like they did in the early 2010s (a ground pound offense)... I'm going to be scratching my head fairly hard as to why and am basically at the point of "FUCK CARROLL and this philosophy."

They've built that offense over the last few months to be COMPLETELY pass oriented... which is in line with Wilson's preference... so if they start running the ball 30 times a game again (unless a big lead) I'm fuckin' done.

My Vikes:
  • Round 1: No. 23 (from Jets) – Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
  • Round 3: No. 66 – Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M
  • Round 3: No. 78 – Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina
  • Round 3: No. 86 – Wyatt Davis, G, Ohio State
  • Round 3: No. 90 (from Ravens) – Patrick Jones II, DE, Pittsburgh
  • Round 4: No. 119 – Kene Nwangwu, RB, Iowa State
  • Round 4: No. 125 (from Bears) – Camryn Bynum, CB, California
  • Round 4: No. 134 (from Bills) – Janarius Robinson, DE, Florida State
  • Round 5: No. 157 – Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa
  • Round 5: No. 168 (from Steelers) – Zach Davidson, TE, Central Missouri
  • Round 6: No. 199 – Jaylen Twyman, DT, Pittsburgh

I would have taken Davis Mills over Kellen Mond
I would have taken Quinn Meinerz over Wyatt Davis
I would have taken Kenneth Gainwell over Kene Nwangwu.

I give it a B+ (and I grade a lot harder than most on drafts so that is a really good grade). So overall I do like it.

The Surratt pick as a replacement for Barr next season was a really good pick moving forward.
I love the Janarius Robinson pick where it was made. Best value pick they had.
Getting Darrisaw and having the guts to trade back was reckless. But you have to give him credit when it works out. But that was a move that more often than not doesnt work out. Had we missed out on Darrisaw in the 1st, I would be giving this draft a D or so.

The final 2 picks were great. When you swing in the 5th and 6th, swing big. And they did that with 2 guys that have unbelievable measurables. So if they hit, they hit big. Considering you are only going to hit on about 15% of your picks down there, doing it big like this is a good route to go.

The big miss is not getting a legit 3rd WR option a little earlier...but you only have so many draft picks to make. Would have really liked to see Dyami Brown to stretch the field. I would have gladly sacrificed the Mond pick to make that happen. I just dont see future starter when I look at Mond.

Yep, I'd agree with that grade. Maybe even an A-. Mond can sit for a year and the Vikings improved their line (at least on paper) which they desperately needed to do. PFF had them ranked nearly bottom 5... If anything it'll help Cousins for his final year and if Mond is the answer will CERTAINLY help him.

The trade down and STILL getting Darrisaw was icing on the cake. Ballsy move for sure, but hey when it works it works. I don't think I'd give them a D if they'd missed out given a # of their other picks were very solid, but it wouldn't be a B+/A- either.

*Orlando Brown JR OT Ravens
2.58 Nick Bolton LB Mizzou
2.63 Creed Humphrey C Oklahoma
4.144 Joshua Kaindoah DE Florida St
5.162 Noah Gray TE Duke
5.181 Cornell Powell WR Clemson
6.226 Trey Smith OG Tennessee

There are two themes here. Immediately addressing the oline is the big theme. Diversity in using draft capital is the other.

Bolton is a pro-ready high-floor low-ceiling prospect. Kaindoah is a project who is high-ceiling with a low-floor. Gray and Powell are depth pieces with special teams use if they don't develop. Trey Smith is someone who dropped 3+ rounds because of medicals. Humphrey strikes me as just a flat out BPA.

I do think they could've done a draft like:

2.58 Carlos Basham DE Wake Forest
2.63 Creed Humphrey C Oklahoma
4.144 Brevin Jordan TE Miami
5.162 Cameron McGrone LB Michigan
5.181 Cornell Powell WR Clemson
6.226 Trey Smith OG Tennessee

I think there is more upside with what I did but if the Chiefs see LB as an immediate need than Bolton is a solid pick.

Overall, I'm happy. Chiefs had to rebuild their oline and they certainly put the resources in to do it.

The Chiefs draft is more of a supplement to their FA moves so I'd say it was just OK in terms of adding depth. Still surprised they didn't throw the secondary a bone.

As far as addressing offseason needs overall, I give them an A+. Covid opt outs and injuries last season may have triggered a little overreaction this year but I love seeing my team aggressively and quickly confront a weakness instead of sitting on their hands like a bad franchise.

The Rams were generally thought to have had 1 of the weaker Draft cards this year. Most pundits ranked them in the bottom 6 with their grade. I haven't watched any of the college performances but i'd have to concur with the pundits. The Rams didn't address the O-line for a 2nd straight year. The 5 players competing for LT and C jobs are on expiring contracts. ILB was weak last year, hence the need to re-sign for Floyd for outside containment. The DBs who were #1 and #2 for defensive snaps in 2020 both left as FAs. Additionally the Rams have lost a lot of depth in the last 2 offseason. A project WR in Round 2 was not what 95%+ of Rams fans wanted, and more ST projects with late picks probably won't help.

I give the Cowboys a C+

Top three rounds to me are very imporntant to the grade
felt like a bit of a reach in round 2 but still may very well turn out.
Love our DT in the 3rd rd.
Didnt care for a DE in the 3rd. Think we went DE at that spot because we wanted a DE not because he was our highest on the board. We normally fail when we force a DE pick.
Hated our final pick in the 3rd.
The later rounds I was actually cool with.

many say he's a solid team first guy who plays the run well and will have a 10 year career....maybe that's just my like for Iowa players, we'll see

as to the question of this thread. I won't pretend to be a talent scout who has a book on 200 plus players and just respond with to be determined. I don't like to form an opinion on some other opinion

Oh I cant wait to be wrong. In fact Jarntt has given some inspiring info on the DE.
To be fair my opinion isnt about him as a player. I dont even know who he is.
My opinion when I saw we drafted a DE in the 3rd is strictly on my experience of the Cowboys thinking oh shit lets get a DE.

I think it had more to do with a good DE against the run. It's a passing league but teams must stop or slow low down considerable the running game. Dallas's poor defense had everything to do with poor run defense...I think Quinn did a lot to help in that regard both in the draft and free agency.

Loved it. This was an extension to an awesome FA period. Something totally new to us NE fans. The experts grade NEs draft anywhere from (B)Mel Kiper he must be butt hurt, all the way to (A)+. I give it an A- based on not going position of need rather going best available. But BB got great value going best available.

1. (15) Mac Jones, QB possibly the most ready NFL QB. A perfect fit for this system. Time will tell if sitting and stealing him at 15 was the right move.

2. (38) Christian Barmore, DL many had him as the #1 DL another steal at 38.

3. (96) Ronnie Perkins, DE people had him as a 2nd round talent. Will give NE a much needed pass rusher and player who can set the edge.

4. (120) Rhamondre Stevenson, RB a big bruiser who doesn't go down on first contact. Protects the ball I don't think he fumbled in over 130 carries. Blocks and can catch coming out of the backfield. I see him possibly the best selection over the next couple years in this system.

5. (177) Cameron McGrone, LB such a BB type move. Guy coming off an ACL injury. May not be ready to start. Not a lot of expirence so has room to grow. Smart could be the replacement for Hightower down the road.

6. (188) Joshua Bledsoe, S got to like the name in NE. Another BB type plays ST and can play S and the slot. Smart and doesn't mind attacking the LOS.

7. (197) William Sherman, OT he's a 7th rounder. Byt can play inside or outside time will tell. Always nice to build depth with a versatile player.

8. (242) Tre Nixon, WR. NE finally gets a WR. Good speed and shifty, ST

I see many of these players making the squad or maybe the PS. A lot of ST talent which Bill loves. Say good bye to some vets.

This NE team won't look anything like last years.

Bengals -

  • Round 1: No. 5 – Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
  • Round 2: No. 46 – Jackson Carman, OT, Clemson
  • Round 3: No. 69 – Joseph Ossai, DE, Texas
  • Round 4: No. 111 – Cameron Sample, DE, Tulane
  • Round 4: No. 122 (From ARI through HOU and NE) –Tyler Shelvin, DT, LSU
  • Round 4: No. 139 (from NE) – D’Ante Smith, OT, East Carolina
  • Round 5: No. 149 – Evan McPherson, K, Florida
  • Round 6: No. 190 – Trey Hill, C, Georgia
  • Round 6: No. 202 – Chris Evans, RB, Michigan
  • Round 7: No. 235 – Wyatt Hubert, DE, Kansas State

I give the Bengals a B. I know everyone was buying into the OT picks at 5, but the reality was, they have a 1st round pick at LT in Williams who did OK last year in what was his first real year (missed rookie year with injury) and Reiff at RT (Who I believe they will extend after this year). That means, they were always focusing on a guy who was more of a long-term OG with potential swing ability to OT if needed. That makes taking Chase a pretty solid pick, IMO - though I do understand why some may have been surprised at passing up on Sewell. I think the deciding factor between Chase and Sewell was that they didn't see Sewell helping them at OG as he's more of a pure OT, and they also didn't see Williams or Reiff moving to OG, either...

Favorite picks - Ossai and Shelvin. I think Shelvin would have likely been a 2nd round pick had he played. He's a perfect guy to pair with Reader to clog up the middle in a base 4-3, and a perfect guy to rotate at NT and allow Reader to move to end on base 3-4 run packages that the Bengals will be using more of this year. Ossai will see time at OLB and DE in both packages, and can be used as an interior rush linemen on 4-3 rush packages. Both bring some size, athleticism, and talent that is needed across that defensive front.

Biggest Question - Carman - I don't hate the pick, as I loved trading down which netted 2 extra picks (one of those Shelvin and OT Smith, who I also like as a long-term project). They did their work with several people to see if he would translate to OG at the NFL level, including working with former All-Pro Willie Anderson who has worked and helped train the kid. All said he can do it. His biggest knock was that pure speed rushers give him problems. His biggest strength is his size and power. Moving him to OG seems to mitigate the issues he got dinged for while taking advantage of his power and size at the interior of the line. I know they could have gotten Jenkins and not traded down, and that's likely the way I would have went, but we'll see. Protecting Lawrence for the last few years while winning titles and keeping the QB pretty clean doesn't look bad on the resume. The switch makes me wonder, though.

Overall, The Bengals landed 6 players from the Top-150 on the final PFF big board
Chase: 6
Carman: 48
Ossai: 60
Sample: 88
Evans: 106
Shelvin: 116

What it tells me is that the real thing the Chiefs messed up on is Frank Clark because paying Thuney and Brown pretty much means Clark is gone. 1st round draft pick for a 3 year rental at Edge, basically.

Much of my optimism around the Chiefs next year is based around rebuilding their oline, though. They are going to need to run the ball to keep defenses honest.
