I don't think Rivers is that good.... Yes, he has put up really good numbers in his career. But if you look close, he's never been in a division where there has been a lot of competition. By the time he took over the starting job the Raiders were miserable, the Broncos were in transition and the Chiefs were spotty. He's had a great tight end (Gates), he's had good backs, and he has played in a proven offensive system (Turner).

Don't get me wrong - I think Rivers is a better than average qb - One of the top 15 in the league. But he's not a top 5 guy..... And unfortunately, that's how some people rated him.

He's third alltime in career passer rating (behind Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers). He's never had a losing season.
