MLB Hall of Very Good Players (but not HOF)

I always thought of him as a Cub killer.......always a pain in our ass.

I guess he killed a lot of teams. But the Bucs were in the same division as the Phillies then so I got to see him more than I wanted back then.

Lenny Dykstra was very good, but I haven't decided if I'm going to leave him off my hall of very good ballot for steroid use yet.

Certainly qualifies, but was not on the 2002 team that reached the ALCS.

Actually thought Young was a HOF player at the time he approached retirement... Then I saw his defensive ratings.

Had a solid WAR for a guy that only played eight years, many of which he missed significant time... Not seeing what the issue is.

he was a really nice player, though 24.6 feels rather low for a "HOVG" guy. that being said, he did average 4 WAR per 162. Pretty underrated player regardless

I feel like 40-55 is a good range for HOVG guys

Unfortunately Felix Hernandez.

One of the most dominant pitchers in the game for a decade on a horrendous team.

Also, robbed of a 2nd Cy Young award which would have been back to back.

Kevin Appier... had a nice run from 90-97 as one of the best pitchers in MLB. Unfortunately he wasn't the same after he got hurt. Should have won the '93 AL CYA IMO.

All-star appearances is all you got apparently… 14 year major leaguer and one-time MVP Morneau had only a marginally better career WAR in spite of > than 2000 extra plate appearances.

Wow. 54 WAR very impressive for a guy w/ just one all-star appearance.

Good/great forgotten players of yesteryear

I wanted to have a thread of players that were good or even great, but kind of have been forgotten due to the time passage. I am not necessarily talking about "underrated" players who aren't appreciated enough or in the HOF or something. I am asking more so for players who were good but not well...
