Winner!I firmly believe that players don’t like Jerry as a person which is why he struck out on every offensive free agent. In two consecutive off-seasons you can’t run off your best offensive players and somehow expect free agents to come.
As ya'll know I'm always full on opinions but I'm not sure what the Mariners should do about Haniger.I know we have talked about Haniger and if he will be back. I heard this today and it adds to what we all have been talking about. Dovish days say he turned down a Mariners offer and I was wrong for that, kind of. That offer came in the offseason after the 2018 season. I was talking more about in the last couple years and not early on. So I apologize for being wrong but with an asterisk lol.
Good listen:
At least Larry Stone and Ryan Divish are hard on the Mariners. Don't see the same for any of the Seahawks media coverage.I get your pont, but outside of a few of us on here not many sound off. We are a kinder, gentler sports state.
I reread his letter a few weeks back and maybe it is my pessimistic mind but he didn't write it for his love of the organization but for the love of his teammates and his disappointment of management. As ya'll know I'm always full on opinions but I'm not sure what the Mariners should do about Haniger.
I just mentally went through a million different scenarios and I think the most likely scenario of Haniger coming back is that the market for him is soft and he's willing to sign a one year deal to hit free agency after being fully healthy for a year, but who knows if he wants to do that here. I keep recalling that article he wrote in the players tribune and really thought he wanted to be here, but if he hasn't negotiated more actively with the team maybe that means he doesn't care and just wants to get paid.
All I know is that the Mariners better have a legitimate replacement plan if he walks. If Winker was hitting like he did in Cinncy, I wouldn't be as concerned about losing Haniger
You could be right.I reread his letter a few weeks back and maybe it is my pessimistic mind but he didn't write it for his love of the organization but for the love of his teammates and his disappointment of management.
