Mini Re-build?

Since we seem to be taking the route of a mini re-build and trying to get younger, deeper and cheaper. What do you guys think about making attempts to get into the top 3 for draft spots?

Col needs a goalie and Tallon down in Florida loves Versteeg. I'm just wondering if the Flyers can use either of these to their advantage to move up even if it means moving the picks we acquired today or raping our farm systemlaugh some more.

What are your thoughts?

I,m a bit concerned about their draft picks,or moreso the latest history.
Richards,Carter,Downie,Sbisa,Pitkanen,Williams,Woywitka,etc..all former 1st round picks,and all traded away.

i'd do that in a new york minute.

that would give what? 10.5 million under the cap to sign leino, voracek and versteegs replacement via free agency or another trade.

i'm still in a bit of shock....

I'm thinking it may almost be possible if the Flyers were willing to gut their farm system and give up the picks the do have and received today to make separate plays for both the 2nd and 3rd overall picks, but that would probably require splitting Bob and Versteeg up in those offers.

Something like Versteeg, a 3rd and maybe a prospect to Florida for the #3 pick

and

Bob, the a 2nd and amaybe a prospect for the #2


I'm sure this is entirely too optimistic, but one of the 2 deals may pan out.

I just realized we could technically offer sheet some guys too. I'd actually like to see them throw an offer sheet out to Brad Marchand, he could be a huge asset as a 3rd line pest for us with a little offensive upside.

Its a young mans game so IMO there's nothing wrong with the moves just hopefully Richie's didn't go to far as you need some vets...we'll see.

I don't want them to move Bob I want the kid to learn behind Bryz for a few years and then you can let the best man win the job and trade the other. Love having some good goalies around....

we also got very physical yesterday, simmonds and voracek both play with an edge and simmonds especially can handle himself very well. i think holmgren got as tired as i did of watching my flyers get pushed around like a bunch of pansies. we acquired some grit yesterday, exactly what we need to contend with boston.
