Of course he will get some notice because of that famous last name, but he had a really solid 2014 season where he bumped around three levels of the minors as he went from A-ball, A+ ball and then up to AA. While his numbers did dip off a bit at AA his entire line for the season reads as follows:

535AB 154H 34 doubles 16 triples 14 HR 75RBI 18SB 6CS 41BB 114K .288AVG .346OBP .490SLG He had 15 assists from all the OF positions he's played.

So far this season at Bowie he is hitting .274 .350 .384 with 14 doubles, 2 triples, and 1HR. He's stolen 4 bases and has been caught 4 times as well. He already has 7 OF assists. The disturbing thins is he's also committed 5 errors.

One thing that is pretty interesting to me is that Carl, Mike Sr., and Mike Jr. are all pretty much 5'11'' and 180lbs. Carl obviously had some power in his bat that didn't seem to translate down to Mike Sr. and Mike Jr. also seems to lack that aspect to his game right now. The other thing that Carl and Mike Sr. had was a very good eye as they would walk a lot and not strike out much.

Mike is kind of an all around average player as far as scouts rate him for tools. He doesn't do any one thing particularly well. Thing is though he looks like he might just be one of those pesky hitters that just keeps on hitting. A high average, high OBP, doubles machine wouldn't look too bad for most teams and with a strong arm to go along with that I think there is a chance we see him on the Orioles roster at some point even if it is only as a back up player.

He went 1-4 with a 2 RBI double last night in a 3-2 win for Bowie.
