Well then get ready to accept next season w/ Cousins at the helm.
I know b/c if Danny wants it he gets it.

again you dodged the question would you accept a losing season ? i say if we keep building the way we will

So Dean, Im going to play devils advocate here.
Say we sign Cousins to the proposed deal.
It doesnt hinder us from signing any one we want to sign in Free Agency
And it doesnt really hinder us in future years as far as the cap goes because we roll into FA the next five years with upwards of $40M each year....
Whats the down side??
Are you more upset w/ the perceived cap hit or the fact that Cousins will make tons of money that you believe he is not entitled to at this time?
Both. Do you really think KC deserves this type of contract? I just do feel he is a top 5 Qb in this league. I don't like overpaying for avg to good player.
Beyond the possibility of this severely hurting the cap (which I don't believe to be the case) I really don't care. It doesn't hurt me so why should I? And again - these big salaries are more a matter of timing than anything else. Nobody is stating that Cousins is in the top 5 in the league at this time. It is more a matter of the circumstances & the fact that he is up for renewal now. Other QBs will make more in the years ahead & his contract then will not be near the top.
I thought Luck get his 87 successful or not. Isnt that what guaranteed means?
I think it will hurt our cap in the future. Just my opinion. Why are they basing KC contract on Luck? Please answer that one. Luck is way more talented and has done more with less weapons plus he has won. So how did the KC camp come up with the 80M guarantee number? I was expecting in the 50's.
Im sure there is more freedom in FA if we do not extend KC long term. How can you predict the Fa number for the next 5 years?
Because 1, the cap doesnt go down, it either stays flat or increases.
2. Once a contract is done, you can already account for what it will cost in future years.
3. As it stands right now, we have
$60M in cap space for 2017
$90M for 2018
$126M for 2019
So I feel safe in saying they will structure the deal so that we have at minimum $40M a year in free cap space going into the future and even if Kirk totally flops and we have to cut him after year two, it wont preclude us from signing other players.
Romo's deal was the last cap killer out there. The Giants spent $202M in real dollars last year.. .and yet they still have $23M in cap space this year. Even the one team that is over the cap. .Dallas, will be out of the Romo hole one way or another by 2018.
The big bad cap monster is dead. And it would take a deal almost twice what Kirk would likely get to put us into that situation.
First of all you are getting worked up over something that has not even happened & basing this off of secondhand conversation. At least wait till they actually agree on something like this. For all we know this number could get negotiated down. Again - just because one side asks for something doesn't mean it is going to occur & why shouldn't Cousins team ask for a lot?
Beyond that you state that Luck has done more. Not in the last few seasons! His stats & wins have not been as good & he has been injured (something that never happens for Cousins). I would also state that he has had a better running game during this time.
Again - who cares what they are basing this on or what they are asking. None of it means anything until they ink a deal (or don't).
Dean, SF is not going to give us a 1st and a 3rd and then give $100M+ to KC. That is not going to happen.Agreed we don't know what the real numbers are yet. KC has two top 5 overall picks on his oline. Plus one of the best TE's in the league and a better overall WR core. This has something to do with his success. Luck has a better running game but doesn't have the weapons or oline that does.
Of Course the KC team is going to ask for a lot b/c they have all the leverage. But the Redskins leverage is possible draft picks from the 49ers. If the 49ers had the 15th overall pick in the draft this wouldn't mean much. If Kyle didn't go to SF then you wouldn't hear a peep from me. My point is the Redskins have a decent out if they feel that they are getting taken for a big ride.
I just cant believe you guys would turn down a 1 and 3 from the 49ers this year. Assuming KC demands are in the Luck range. I was onboard with the Shark proposed deal from yesterday.

Absolutely true. The difference is that your opinion appears to be based on speculation, greed and panic and ours is based on history.jy you have your opinions and I have mine. Its very possible b/c Kyle is there and he has nothing to work with. As far as the contracts are concern, we don't know how it will be worked out until he signs the deal. I know the signing bonus part accounts for a huge portion of the contract. I still cant understand that this long term deal wont handcuff in this FA or next years FA.
