Josh Mccown was good last year, but career journeyman backup.........

dont you think just a product of trestmans offense?

yet a 1st year qb with a big arm and upside........who played fairly well

He's not out, is he? I read that they were feeling around for a second round pick for him, but that doesn't mean he's out. I doubt any team will give them that, and a 2nd round valuation is pretty good.

I don't know. It doesn't make sense to me. He had a decent year on an awful team that had a lot of non-football issues to deal with. The only knock I saw from a few games I watched him in was his slow wind up release. It wasn't as bad as Tebow or Leftwich, but it is still there.

With the rumors swirling about him being traded, hopefully the Cardinals will get in on that for a day 3 pick. TB's GM was working for the Cardinals last year & I know Arians/Kiem like Glennon. Have him sit behind Palmer for a year or two to refine his skills.

Obviously TB thinks McCown is the better QB at this point in their respective careers. I said in my first reply that it didn't make sense to me.

He played well last year - wouldn't be surprised at all to see him beat out McCown. If not, they've got a first-rate backup.

Both of them were backups last year. And McCown was better was better when he came off the bench.

I guess their logic is:

If you dont feel like the young guy is your guy, then go with the trusted vet and keep on looking.

I'm with Steelerpride on some level...I can see wanting a guy that knows your system in there if the incumbent is not a proven player. But to not even have open competition, I don't get that...Glennon showed enough I thought to at least get a look, but he's not owed anything.
