He hits a lot of line drives (his lowest career LD% is 18.9%, which is still very good), and more ground balls than fly balls. But his HR/FB rate has never been higher than 27%, which is a perfectly reasonable ratio in itself. Mostly he sits around 20-24%. That doesn't suggest "enhanced" power.

I think it is humorous to hear people say Miggy is juicing. It isn't as if he is putting up mind blowing homerun numbers. He has hit over 40 in a year exactly ONCE in 10 years in the MLB.

What makes Cabrera great is just as much his intellect at the plate, as it is his physical skills. He shrinks the zone for pitchers because he rarely chases bad pitches. His pitch recognition is unreal. Couple that with the fact he strikes out very little for a player with his type of power and has no problem hitting the ball to any part of the ballpark and you have the best hitter in baseball.

It really is sad when any time a player does something extraordinary anymore in baseball -- steroids is automatically associated with his name.

I never claimed my teams program was pure as the driven snow. Nobody's is.
