I was on the USS Lexington when we asked to participate in the original shooting of Midway. All of the color shots of a Carriers, were the Lex. If you look close, you can see there are no guns mounted anywhere, as that was a stipulation for being ported out of Pensacola.

Additionally, during the closing scene, that's actually Pensacola Naval Station that is being shot from the Lex. If you look close, you can see modern cars on the pier parking lot.

I never got to meet any of the stars, but Charlton Heston ate with the crew almost every evening and took time to chat.

Woody Harrelson as Nimitz, Dennis Quaid as Halsey.

I’m already getting a cartoony vibe out of it, but nothing could ever top Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, in that department.

We can have fun with this. I am going to build a cast for this:

Nimitz:Hank Azaria
Halsey:Robert Mitchum, because Robert Mitchum
Yamamoto:Ken Jeong
Maddox:

Matt Garth: Ben Affleck, because like Heston he wears a rug and I want his plane to crash in fiery explosion
Chili: Erik Estrada, because i am sure he needs the work (affirmative action hire)

Tom Garth: Vince Vaughan, because I felt the original character had more comedic development that was untapped

I am an avid WWII nut.

Gonna withhold judgement until I see it, but...after seeing this trailer...I'm seeing all the warning signs that this will be a total trainwreck of a crappy CGI romantic film. This could literally be Pearl Harbor all over again.

Don't fuck this one up. Please.

Pumped.

Love the original film and the importance of Midway should be introduced to the next generation.

Way happier with this trailer than the last one. It looks as though they are staying true to many, many real events including...
the Japanese suicide bomber than nearly sank the Enterprise, Doolittle Raid, doomed torpedo attacks, the intelligence gathering that led up to the Midway attack etc etc etc

I liked it but it seems to be getting shitty ratings so maybe i'm in the minority/extreme minority.

Emmerich is basically shittier, off-brand Michael Bay, so I'm not hoping for a lot.

Not quite a trainwreck but you did nail the other parts.

I like that there was a lot of historical accuracy, as I've been fascinated by the Battle of Midway since I was a kid. They didn't really reinvent stories, but I felt like the sequence was confusing, and you really didn't get a sense for how the battle was actually fought. I knew the different attack waves on both sides, so I had an idea what to expect, but most in the audience had no idea that there even was a Battle of Midway. Without getting into spoilers, I'm guessing they would never have a clue as to what really happened.

Also, the CGI was not good. Overall, I'd recommend waiting to see for free, don't spend a lot at the theater.
