I like your beard.
I hate you all.
But I think this will work because they're a rebuilding team.

i'm interested to see what comeds thinks of this.. i really think the habs are making a huge mistake here.. not that MT is a bad coach, but he's a terrible fit IMO
Why do you say he's a terrible fit? The last time they made any noise in the playoffs was because of their defense. They still have about half of that team. It actually seems perfect, considering they play in one of the tougher divisions in the league.
i dont remember where i saw this, but there were multiple players after the season that said they were tired of playing a defensive system and with all the reports of the team giving up on coaches this season, is bringing in another defensive system really gunna work for the players? i know you should do what's right for the team, but if the players are pissed and a disciplinarian like MT comes in with a system they dont like, that doesn't sound like a good idea to me
a defensive system might be what's good for the team, but if the team doesn't wanna play it, you're gunna have problems
The thing is, the players will buy in based on how he manages it. What I mean is that if they respect him as a coach, it'll be fine. If he loses them early, it'll be exactly what you're saying.
well then i guess i'll rephrase it and say they're putting MT in a tough spot.. i feel like its easier to come in to a situation and tell players to play a way they dont want to, when you more of a player friendly coach.. i can just see MT coming in and saying "ve're go-in do play dis vay, deal vid it", and having nobody buy in to that.. seeing as how they raised complaints about playing a similar way previously

I do not think its awful but I am not thrilled. I do not think he is a bad coach and even with the rebuilding I do not think the team will be any worse than it was at any point when he coached before. Talentwise in my opinion, I am not predicting their record to be better than his previous seasons.
With the possible exception of Guy all the recent Habs coaches have been defense first but at least going by my memory of his last stint the style they played was more exciting than it was under Martin or Julien. Julien had little to work with but they were no fun at all to watch when he was coaching them.
My preference would probably been Guy part deux, then Crawford, then Hartley, then Therrien. At least its not Roy. So its mixed feelings.
I will say I have been a fan of most of Bergevin's moves so far and and it sounds like he and his group did long multiple interviews with each candidate so perhaps he saw something in Therrien that he thought was missing in the others.
And not to nit pick about the team buying in, unless I missed something in my second half of the season drunken stupor, wasn't Cammy the only player to complain about the system?
