Hey Shark Wr is a need also. This draft is really deep in the Def area, so one could gamble and take the center or the WR early in the 1st rd. But I am still having horrible flashbacks in regards to our Def in the GB game. Def is the way for me. A good Def will take you to the next level.

I completely understand what you are saying. But you cant base an entire draft or even the first round on one game. That would be as bad as signing Archuletta to a ridiculous contract based on him having one really good game in the playoffs. If Thomas is seen as one of the best players available by our GM, I wont be upset. Its a need, and i think he is actually slightly under rated in the way the draft is ranked over the past few years. Am i ready to pound the drum and say this is the guy we need to take if there?? No quit. But if we are really targeting him, I would not be upset.

Everyone says this draft is very deep in defense, especially along the line, but there are very few interior pass rushers in this draft. I really think it is an overrated DL class in terms of high end talent. I won't be upset taking a DL though, a CB, a WR, or a C. I just want the BPA at that slot and I may disagree with who that is but we will see.

As for Thomas, he may be higher up with a better QB.

Thinking if we are after an interior D-lineman it wont be for his pass rushing skills in any case. If we draft for interior D-line, it will be for a nose tackle that is more of a space eater. If we go D-line, it will be a Space Eater NT, or a complete DE who can both rush the passer AND play the run.

Now I agree we could use both. But if this draft is half as deep at the D-line as they are claiming.... we could get D-line in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and still be improved.

Good point Shark and I agree. My order of importance after free agency (pending that we don't really bring anyone else in)

NT
FS
RB
ILB
WR
DE

Just my thoughts but I really hope we take a NT, FS and RB in the first 3 rounds. I don't care about the order just as long as we address those needs.

How many picks do you have? I would go Thomas and then just build the defense with the picks remaining. Now KC should put up another solid year again. That will be a scary group to cover.
we have 8 picks and it could increase . though it could increase

if we draft d/line in rounds 2-3 we could get a couple of starters for us by year 2 . yes the d/line doesnt have a lot of pass rush but our run defense was awful from the d/line position

drafting kelley or thomas would be ok although i think kelley is more likely to be a year one starter

IMO Thomas is not a bad pick at 21. That is just another playmaker for KC to throw to. Treadwell will be long gone. Thomas is the 2nd best WR in this group, which isn't that great to begin with. You already have Jackson, so you don't need another burner like Will Fuller.

I am leaning toward Kelly for pick #21 b/c he provides us with long term starting value. A guy like Reed or Billings would only be 2 down players. So are 2 down player worth a first round pick? That is what you have to ask yourself. Pus I think we will find a DL in the 2nd round but wont find a center like Kelly. FWIW Thomas is a 2nd round pick if you ask me. The best all around WR in this draft is Sheperd from Oklahoma.

Would have no issue at all drafting this guy. When tOSU played VT, Thomas was probably the best offensive player on the field from either team. He made a couple NFL DBs on our team look average. With all of the talent tOSU has got, that is saying a lot. If we are going after WR in the draft, it makes sense to get one early as this class looks pretty weak w.r.t. that position.

Speaking of tOSU and WRs. I like Braxton Miller ALOT too. I think he has a super high ceiling and could be a steal for someone in the draft.

You know Shark when you make the playoffs, your weakness will be expose. That's exactly what happen we were exposed. If I remember correctly around the end of the 3rd quarter and in the 4th Qtr is when GB started running the ball pretty good. The Pack gave us a good dose of the RG. One thing that stands out here Shark, the Pack had an injury-riddled offensive line coming into this game. Remember the Patriots game, they used a TE at Tackle and still had success in the RG and Just like GB the Patriots came into the redskin game with a depleted offensive line also.

Shark I from the old school. A good RG, a good DEF and ST is the way for me. Just look at Carolina, name any WR's on that team. The RG opens up the passing game.

We need to get better on both sides of the LOS. I just feel we can address WR later.

Well Shark we just agree to disagree. No problem.

For those that wonder, Thomas is rated as one of the top 3-5 WRs in this draft class. 3rd currently by Walters. Now Im just tossing it out there, but I know one or two of the posters around here tend to put alot of stock in Walters draft ratings.

Im just saying.

I realize we need D-line help, and secondary and ILB for that matter..... But lets not pretend we dont need a WR taller than 6 foot and younger that 29 which our top two receivers happen to be.

Valid points, but I'm not sure the Skins need to draft a WR this year with their top pick. IMO our WR corp is fine, barring injury I'd say its the strongest unit on the team. Not that they can't get better,, we need at one more RB and multiple players on defense before we need a WR imo. Though if they go WR with their top pick, I'll be alright with that to. We'll just have to outscore is all.

I dont really buy into the idea that we need a big WR but I think Thomas might be pretty solid. At this point its early and all I can say is I wouldnt hate the pick.

Not saying they should draft this kid but a stud WR might allow you to not resign one $10 million WR next year. I also think if someone is leaking this now it is a smoke screen.

IM also just going to point out, showing interest does NOT mean we are intending to use the #21 pick on him or even a first rounder.

But just for shits and giggles, say we manage to trade back to say 29th in the draft and grab an extra 3rd rounder and we draft this kid..... would you really be pissed??

I'm not paying this any attention. Sure, Scot might be on the radar, as one of his many favorites, but not the favorite. Last year, we heard various names. Little did we know, Donte Fowler was #1 on his board. Then, Amari Cooper. Then, Brandon Scherff. Ironically, they all went in the same draft order to their respective teams. I believe Scot's gonna throw a curve ball in this draft, especially with our first pick.
