He's under contract until 2020 for 16M, 17M, 18M, 19M. That's a lot of money we could be using for a younger star (Max) player.

There is no guarantee Westbrook re-signs though so it is a huge risk.

That's not bad at all. Apparently you haven't noticed the contracts in place. There's no young star max player that you're referencing too that will be signed to a contract like that with the new salary cap. When the cap goes up to $104 million, Dragic's going to be taking up 1/6 of the cap.

If Dragic's on a bad contract now. I want to know what Mike Conley's $153 million dollar contract is.

When I say it's a bad contract, I mean it is bad for us with regards to where our team is now, not being in a position to legitimately complete in the East. He's over 30 and taking up space we could using to go after bigger, younger, more useful players in 2017 and beyond.

And Mike Conley is not worth that contract. But I think Memphis can't draw the FA's like Miami can, so they might as well use it on their popular franchise player.

If Bosh retires, the Heat are going to free up another $25 million in salary cap. Not factoring in Whiteside, you can see the Heat have a lot of flexibility next offseason. Riley's got nearly the entire roster on 1-year contracts. The Heat will have over $50 mil available in cap space.

And when you say Dragic's over 30, he's 2 months over 30. This isn't a player that's beyond over the hill as you're making it sound. Trading Dragic makes zero sense unless you're getting Westbrook long term without giving up anything else - that includes Winslow and/or picks.

Dragic's contract isn't good, but Mike Conley is probably the worst contract in the NBA.
