Seems like another Matt Carle pick-up. Great young puckmover with one team who went to hockey hell (aka the state of Florida) and suffered. I would like the move more if he wasn't our 3rd highest paid defenseman right now.
Funny, I was thinking the same as soon as I noticed his cap hit. Still gives us much needed depth imo. Hopefully Bartulis can step up being paired with a proven player.
Yea, so now every pair has a young, smooth skating puckmover (Carle, Coburn, Meszaros) and a shutdown guy (Pronger, Timonen, Bartulis). As long as Leighton holds up and the forwards progress, it's a fine move.
Not too sure what the next move will be, but I just have a feeling Homer's going to make another trade. Hopefully it will be before I go to work so I'm not going crazy all day wondering whats up!
Scott Burnside:
Pierre has confirmed the Flyers have re-signed Braydon Coburn to a two-year deal. So, does he remain a Flyer or is this part of a sign and trade plan to open up space for a goaltender? Riddle me this, though, what NHL team has a better blue line than the Flyers' Coburn, Meszaros, Timonen, Pronger, Carle? With all due respect to Chicago and Detroit, zero.
i really like the move.. like ya'll said he makes a bit too much but he's not nearly as overpaid as some out there (gonchar comes to mind, 5.5 mil, lol, and of course redden).. but the flyers D is going to shut every m-f-er in the league down next year if it stays as is.. they basically have 5 guys that could play on the top pair (mez and coby have both done it before)
