I was totally convinced until they showed the cell phone "video".

So fucking fake.

I was disappointed.

Dr. Paul Robertson does not exist. The guy in the interviews is also an actor. His name is Andre Wiedeman. The "shut down" websites are not shut down. When the Feds shut down a we site, they do not label it as such. Think about it.

The whole thing is a not so well done viral marketing ploy by Discovery. This whole thing was fact checked and debunked a couple years ago when it first came out.

OMG. They are both actors, people!!! :L

THIS IS A MOCKUMENTARY, Lol. I promise you. Go do a google scholar seat h for the good do for and anything related to marine biology. Also think about it. Would DOJ LABEL websites they shut down with bad MS Paint emblems and leave them up with the labels.

It is the same as the finding dragons mockumentary they did a few years back.

Did you guys miss this in the credits, btw:

“Though certain events in this film are fictional, Navy sonar tests have been directly implicated in whale beachings. ‘The Bloop’ is a real phenomenon. There is still debate about what it may be. None of the institutions or agencies that appear in the film are affiliated or associated with it in any way, nor have they approved its contents. Any similarities in the film to actual persons living or dead is entirely coincidental.”

It was at the very end, but it was there. It is also listed as a docu-fiction.

I actually just did google some stuff. Don't get me wrong I don't believe it's real. Hell they even said at the end of the show "all names mentioned, real or fictional, is purely coincidental" or however that tagline goes.

Oh well no mermaids.

I actually love cryptozoology and follow it closely. Shows like this (and finding Bigfoot for that matter) do a disservice to the field though. I miss monsterquest which took a much more scientific and objective approach. 99% of the time it was a feral dog or a log in a lake (which is to be expected) but at least it was as honest as it could be.

interesting factoid though is that we have explored and know more about our Solar System then we do our deep sea.... so you really never know..

Intelligent life is incapable of evolving in the deep sea, due to water pressure at those depths. Biological fact. Look it up.

And, the Mermaid special held my interest for about 10 minutes and thats it. Evolution would never produce a species that is half homo sapien and half fish. The whole idea of evolution is adaption to environment. A 'mermaid' cant adopt to anything, except the fantasy in a 5-year-old girl's mind.

It's impossible for this to be a demonstrable fact.

Nobody asserted these were half human, half fish. As for your intelligent life at specific depths. Well that is just flat wrong.

There are sharks, skates, whales etc.. that survive well at depth. Hell the whales surface for air and their brains are under incredible pressure changes daily, yet they have adapted.

This same person thought a championship team in Milwaukee existed a few years back.

He is easily fooled.

I was referring to the unexplored depths. Please try to keep up.

It's not even remotely possible that that's provable.
