They did have actors playing the roles of the marine biologists in certain segments of the documentary but had the real biologists during the interview portions

I had not. That's some pretty interesting stuff there.

It's fringe stuff discussed in pubs and at picnics, but scientists I know at least discuss it.

Actually you are totally wrong. The guy from NOAA the marine biologist was portrayed by an actor in the scenes showing them doing field research. Like they do in crime shows en sech. The two others from NOAA were also portrayed by actors in the same sech scenes.

All the interviews were done with the real MBs from NOAA. I have seen these guise a dozen times at the Portland zoo doing seminars over the last decade. They are pretty cool folks actually.

I will keep my opinion as to the validity of the new marine mammal to myself...
