After being in ''deep negotiations'' with the Seahawks, Melton is headed to Dallas to meet with the Cowboys. As an RM favorite, I'd be stunned if he leaves town without a deal

Just read that article on Blogging the boys. Didn't know he tore his ACL last year that kind of worries me.

That's the only reason he is available right now. You get him for the right deal and take a chance on him.

That's right, there's no way the Bears let him go otherwise. The problem is, we are going to have to overpay, because there are several teams interested. I don't think Jerry has much of a choice. By letting Melton go, Chicago(who picks in front of us) will be looking for a 3T as well.

Melton has said he'd love to play for Marinelli again. I think that's why he scheduled Dallas last. This way he'd get a look at the other offers first. If we're close he signs here. If not he probably goes to Seattle for a chance at a ring.

That could be a good sign for Dallas, assuming they want him as bad as people think they do. If this guy left Seattle, I'm thinking he wants more than a homecoming. He wants to get paid. Seattle likely tried to sell him on a great situation in regards team success, but perhaps this guy decided that he was looking for something else?

Signing him would really help Dallas in regards to the draft IMO. They could still take a kid like Donald, but they wouldn't HAVE to. Taking kids because you have no choice is how you bust a draft. Melton signing would open up the possibility of DE, DT, S, or even an elite OL or WR if they drop, and then address need in rounds two or three. As Nets said, someone always seems to slide out of the top 10.

You 100% nailed it here

You guys shoulda seen this guy play HS runningback at Grapevine HS at 260 lbs. My youngest son (185 lbs) played LB against him and he had 9 tackles that night but he looked like a truck had hit him for 3 days. This guy really wants to play in Dallas for a variety of reasons but Jerry is going to have to extend a contract at 4/5 years to fit the required money for this skill set

Melton, Donald and Spencer on the cheap would be solid.

Crawford, Mincey, Selvie as well. It will be interesting to see if the Cowboys sign Melton, if they would draft Donald or go for a kid like Nix or Jernigan to play 1T

let him go then he's not worth a big payday coming off of micro fracture surgery anyway.

Even before the injury he did not play well enough for a big payday.

I say we get Milton on a good deal, and the rest draft.

He's looking for the best deal he can get. The lack of interested team means he can very well be back here on the cheap.

Spencer got over $10 mil last year without playing a down, he should be more than willing to play for the COWBOYS for the vet minimum. If not he can kick rocks for all I care

I suspect you're right about the length of the deal. To get this guy under contract, it's probably going to take more than a franchise friendly commitment.

They could word the contract with incentives and make it work. One thing about Jerry, if he wants his guy, he'll get him... Generally... lol
