Being objective - why in the hell would a team keep a player who likely won't play for $16M while creating unnecessary locker room drama? That makes no sense. It also hardly makes any sense for RG3 to rework a deal when he can simply wait for a few months to go wherever he likes. Heck - he waited all of last season - a few more months is not going to kill him. Option # 2 also doesn't really make sense.

I agree with you about exploring a possible trade for a late pick - why not? However - don't really see this happening & in the grand scheme of things I think the impact is relatively minimal. I think permanently removing the related drama is worth much more than a 6th or 7th round pick.
You are right. The most likely scenario by a wide margin is they are going to release him. There will not be any trade offers. However, they may wait until the last possible moment to do that. Primarily because teams such as Dallas and Philly may not wait and fill their vacancies with others before the beginning of the 2016 league year.

One reason teams may trade for him is the playbook and the money. The sooner they sign him, the sooner he can get to work and the sooner they can capitalize off his name. There is more to the NFL than winning contrary to what some believe.

Being a chess player I look at option one like this.

The team wants to control where he goes, or at worst try and recoup something from him. Sure he could make noise and drama as the #3 QB. But realistically who does that harm more?? The team or him. IF the team decides to make way to hang onto him, he could be a distraction, but that would NOT be in his best interest. How silly does that sound demanding a trade or to be released after getting $16 million?

As for option 2, that would again be the team wanting to control where he goes and possibly get something back in return. Let me ask, if Dallas called and said we will split the cost and swap picks in the first round... would you be upset at us doing that??

And actually if it were me, I would simply pay Kirk what he asks, pay the option and trade RG3's ass to the Browns for a 2018 7th rounder. And if no one wanted to trade for him, he could sit and play nice or find himself suspended the minute he opened his dick skinner to say something stupid.

I would do # 2 in a heartbeat if I were the Redskins - ain't happening. Ditto for the other options unless they get extremely lucky & get a 7th rd pick. Face facts - he will be gone after March & most likely be cut. I would love to be wrong on some of this but in no way do I (nor most of the Redskins) want him on the roster in the fall.

My main pt is that it should be no big deal if he is ultimately cut in a few months - everyone will move on & the team will continue to grow. I don't even care if he goes to Dallas since 1. Redskins should now be at the stage where they take on all comers 2. if RG3 is as bad as you suggest then you shouldn't be worried & 3. Contrary to what many folks state there is a good chance that Romo plays all/most of next season in which case RG3 has no impact. My guess would be that RG3 really doesn't want to go to Dallas for that reason.

Fine I will admit, I soured on the Kid. And as such I would not mind seeing him

1. Squirm
2. Rot on the bench for another year
3. Be consigned to the depths of QB hell that is the Browns.

the only reason I would want to see him in Dallas is because I think he would get snapped like brittle fire wood. Because I dont think Garrett would have what it takes to make him into a QB, and we see how healthy they keep Romo.

There you go. If things go well - this will be an afterthought for many of us & eventually people may be asking "whatever happened to RG3?". I see this team heading in a positive direction. HTTR - on to bigger & better things.
