NFL Network's Peter Schrager reports "multiple front office execs" have told him Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey has a chance to come off the board in the first ten picks.

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah appears to be on the same page, giving McCaffrey to the Panthers at No. 8 in his latest mock after being told by an NFL executive the running back "really helped himself" in the pre-draft process. Following Dalvin Cook's extremely poor showing at the Combine, McCaffrey likely will be the second running back off the board behind Leonard Fournette.

If Fournette, McCaffery and Cook are gone before #17, we should get Reddick or Foster I would think. I would like Mixon however, that is too high to take him in my opinion.

The closer we get to the draft, the more I find myself liking McCaffrey. This guy screams bust, but the numbers don't lie and there is a real possibility that he could be a game changer for us. I really don't know.

I just keep watching his tape and the agility, foot speed, quickness in small space, decisiveness at the line of scrimmage and his ability to be a 70+ catch guy gives me cause to pause, or he could get broke up, and stay injured and become a glorified H-Back.

I just don't know. I would hate to miss on this guy and he becomes one of the faces of the NFL.

You would take McCaffery and Cook at 17, but that's too high for Mixon.........Huh??

Ou also have to consider the fact that comparable RB's in prior drafts weren't much at this level. The last being Reggie Bush.

If our Skins go running back it will be McCaffrey or Cook at 17. Note I said our Skins b/c I would draft COMPLETELY draft different from our Skins. McCaffery may not be an every down back in the NFL. I am not in love with Cook or McCaffery. I think they are more perimeter runners that won't get a lot of the tough yards we need inside the tackles. Bot out of the two I would go with Cook.

Hey Syt I loved it when Mixon was undraftable. Back in Feb there was many teams highly uncomfortable with drafting Mixon. The Media did not want Mixon drafted either it would hurt the league's efforts to stop violence against women. Then he was mentioned in the 4th rd, then the 3rd and finally the 2nd rd. loved all of this.

Also many NFL teams did not want Mixon on there board. I was quite elated with all of this BS b/c now you can focus on other players in the 1st rd and com back in the 2nd and get Mixon who reminds me of Dave Johnson/L. Bell by the way.

After not being invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. Here recently no one is moving up the draft boards quicker than Mixon. Now my worst nightmare has come. Mixon, has finally enter the conversation of being drafted in the 1st rd. He may not be there in the 2nd rd.

If McCaffery is the one here there will no doubt some who are going to love this pick..........UNTIL.........they realize that he is a one cut type of back more suitable for a ZBS like the one we had here under M. Shanahan. Bluntly put, McCaffery is not a good fit in Gruden's offense. Can he be schemed in? Of course, but you expect a lot more from a player selected at 17 than a couple of spot plays.

I've always thought that a guy who brings what he does is NOT going to make it into the second round. It makes zero sense to draft him at all if the over riding concern was the off field issue. The reasoning behind that is those off field issues, which I believe are long behind him, would be there no matter when a team got him. I have yet to hear or see an evaluation that doesn't say he is a top ten talent. We have two weeks to go before the draft, guess who's going to be the talk of the first round by then? Well, you and I already know the answer to that one!

First, where did you get that he is a one cut back?

Secondly what system do you think the Redskins use. I mentioned this several weeks ago when someone talked about a power running game. Krush followed that with stats that explained not only what the Skins do but what most of the NFL does.

What haven't McCaffrey and Cook done that Mixon has .... knock a woman out. Clearly the NFL has pre-conceived ideas about him or they would have invited him to the combine. None of this has anything to do with how good Mixon is, it is all about his decision making and anger management. Maybe someone (maybe the Skins) would take the risk. I would not.

No one loved Dexter Manley more than me .... a player with an edge .... but it hurt when he was basically lost for the rest of his career here due to poor decisions.

First he is NOT a power back, never has been and never will be. I'm a huge fan of Stanford's HC David Shaw and often tout him as an excellent candidate here when the occasion comes up. So I've watched many of their games myself and don't rely on others to tell me about players. I do my own research.

As you and I know there just aren't any teams that rely upon one scheme but employ several types. Gruden mainly uses power and gap with some outside zone (stretch) mixed in (ZBS). We didn't have the guys for his preference until 2015 with Jones et al. This is also why there has been a transition from Shanahan type Olinemen to guys like Scherff and AK and the addition of Callahan

Finally, I don't talk myself out of thinking about a player based upon what he's done outside of the game, you're going to miss out on a lot of good to great players that way, but I do get it, we can talk about a guys personal life just as long as it doesn't cross certain lines. like standing up for a woman's right to be seen and treated as equals then using a different standard when something like that happens. Question, would the judgement on him been different had he knocked out a guy f'ing with him?

Again, I've done my homework on this guy (Mixon) he's paid his debt, gone through the AM courses and now established a forum where he talks to others about the same things, well above and beyond anything that a court or OU asked of him. I suppose this is why social media is so popular, because on those sites people can and do scroll through hours of posts just to find the juicy scab to pick at.

None of this is aimed at you, just answering your questions and replying with a judgement of my own.

Sty, you have detailed the reasons you like Mixon many times. I have no argument with his skill which I believe I have detailed many times. I have also said many times I believe in guys getting a 2nd chance. That does not change the fact that is one anger outburst from goodbye forever.

My other real point is calling McCaffrey a one cut back. Nothing could be further than the truth. Everyone is a one cut runner to get through the hole and if you are such a fan of Stanford (I know you are, you mention it often) then you know McCaffrey has moves after he gets though the LOS.

All that said I have no feeling for what the Redskins are going to do in round 1. I hope they take whoever is still left and highest rated on their board when their turn comes.

I took him in our draft so believe the HYPE :pound:

Happens every year after the combine. Rams gave up lots of picks for Goff. That was all hype

No idea if McCaffrey can run even between the tackles much less be an every down RB in the NFL. Washington was the only legit defense the kid faced and he got shutdown.

I hope someone reaches on him and Cook falls to Tampa. I'd be stoked.

In our draft Cook was gone or I would have grabbed him before McCaffey
