I think one of the things that's hurting is using the two vampires. It would be completely different if there was only one of you and you didn't have to fight the other guy for the best available free agents each week. I think that's making a way bigger difference than the roster size because that's the only thing we did differently than other vampire leagues. I don't like the idea of allowing non-vampire teams unlimited free agent transactions either. I might be willing to say that they could have one per week, but if they can overhaul their rosters, why not just do a standard league. The whole point of the league is to see if a team made up entirely of non-drafted and free agent players can compete against the guys that were drafted. I really think it's the two vampire thing that we should change next year. The winner of this league becomes the only vampire next year unless a vampire wins and then the runner up becomes the vampire.
I think @tlance would have to basically win out. I’m likely going winless at this point unless I run into an injured team.

It is both.

16 man roster is too much.

I said that before we even started.

Sure. Two vamps hurts a bit, but no that much.

We don’t have any studs. There has not been a single high impact free agent all season.

Why?

Partially because few major long term injuries to impact RBs, but also because you all have so many players on your rosters.

And yes, it is positions like QB where we really get screwed because everybody else drafts 2 before we can get 1. We are picking from the dregs every week. With 6 point passing TDs, it is really hard to overcome unless you get lucky.

I think the biggest acquisition has been Gallman. I didn’t think he would have a three TD game and he got you that W. Granted you had more than him but his game was massive

I don't believe that for a second. You just have to be really good and really lucky. What makes it really hard is that it's a free league that isn't going to get all or even a lot of your attention. But if you look at it, in week 1 if either of you had started this lineup:

QB - Case Keenum (35.2 points)
RB - Malcolm Brown (17.2 points)
RB - Rex Burkhead (13.2 points)
WR - Jamison Crowder (24.3 points)
WR - Desean Jackson (39.4 points)
TE - Vernon Davis (15.9 points)
Flex - Michael Gallup (22.8 points)
K - Zane Gonzalez (14 points)
D/ST - Jets (24 points)

You would have scored 206 points. Or as a 2nd team:

QB - Marcus Mariota (32.3 points)
RB - Darren Sproles (11.3 points)
RB - Lesean Mccoy (10.3 points)
WR - John Brown (25.3 points)
WR - Tyrell Williams (22.5 points)
TE - Jason Witten (10.5 points)
Flex - Courtland Sutton (19 points)
K - Cairo Santos (13 points)
D/ST - Titans (27 points)

You would have scored 171.2 points. I'm just saying it is possible.

I think the bigger problem is that neither one of you is used to sucking so it's really painful for you. Let me give you some advise on sucking, because I have a lot more experience than you guys do, just go with the flow and have some fun. Put some crazy people in your lineup. Hell it's a free league. Here's what could have happened last week (now keep in mind that Trudem had 242.7 points scored against him so he wasn't going to win no matter what, but this could have been your lineup last week and I tried to keep all players feasible and leave guys like Byron Pringle off the list. LOL:

QB - Teddy Bridgewater (35.3 points)
RB - Chase Edmunds (17.6 points)
RB - Carlos Hyde (12 points)
WR - DJ Chark (36.4 points)
WR - Michael Gallup (24.3 points)
TE - Gerald Everett (20.6 points)
FLEX - Mohamed Sanu (15.3 points)
K - Dan Bailey (16 points)
D/ST - 49ers (26 points)

That would have been a total of 203.5 points or as a 2nd team:

QB - Gardner Minshew (31.2 points)
RB - Peyton Barber (10.1 points)
RB - Chris Thompson (8.8 points)
WR - Courtland Sutton (24.2 points)
WR - John Brown (12.5 points)
TE - Darren Fells (16 points)
FLEX - DK Metcalf (12.4 points)
K - Zane Gonzalez (14 points)
D/ST - Steelers D/ST (17 points)

That would have been 146.2 which isn't a monster number but it would have won Tlance's matchup.

You seem a bit defensive here. I know it may seem like I am complaining. That is not my intent. I want to take this concept and make it more fun for all teams. Because I really like the concept and I am having fun with this. The subject was about tweaking to make it better for next year. Easier to talk about it now while thoughts are fresh. And I think there is a lot of tweaking needed to make this more competitive on both sides.

IMO, just reducing to 1 vampire is not enough.

Yes, there will always be hypothetical winning lineups out there. Always. And half the guys you highlighted were even on mine or Trudem’s roster for those weeks. But nobody in their right mind is starting Darren Fells over Darren Waller. Or Peyton Barber over LeSean McCoy.

At the very least, passing TDs need to be reduced to 4 points. Because it is nearly impossible to predict which crappy QB is going to go off. Too many variables behind that.

And again, while I do appreciate the idea behind starting this league, I think you have become married to “this is what it has to be because this is what a vampire league is”.

This is our league, we can make up whatever rules we want. I get the original concept, but I do think we can take ideas from the original concept and make it better. This league plays like another suicide style league for non-vamps and I might be the only 1, but I don’t particularly like that either.

But Gallman only had 1 week.

Helped get me a win, but usually there are multiple every week RBs who emerge and so far there have been 0.

I wasn't trying to be defensive, I was trying to be funny. Apparently mission not accomplished.

I love the concept and want to be involved again next year but I agree that some changes need to be made. We need to be careful how quickly the changes are made though. If we go too far then it will be too easy for the blood suckers.

but that means no competition for waivers.

its good and bad. I like the concept of the league but it needs a little tweaking. Although we might not get it right the first time.

its kind of a lose lose situation though... Because what happens in future years, when there are serious injuries early on in the season... and a vampire team wins a matchup early on in the year... Then That vampire is going to dominate all season...

We got put in a fluke season... and now you vampires are basically playing the spoiler role....

maybe we can counter that potential outcome by a rule, if a vampire wins 5 weeks in a row, at any point of the season, he bites a non vampire team and gives him all of his vampire powers...

Maybe 5 weeks total?

Because if a vamp wins 5, they should be pretty loaded.

sure, but that is something we can debate on next year... I do think with a couple changes this league could become pretty great...

no my Packer friend 1 less player per the 10 rosters gives the 2 vamps 10 more players to choose from

I truly believe it is the suicide aspect that must go.

No roster moves = bigger rosters = too many good players on rosters
