So we need to decide how many rounds the draft/size of rosters will be. Keep in mind that there are no transactions for the non-vampire teams (no trades or waiver wire pickups) unless a player is put on IR and then the non-vampire teams will be allowed to replace that player with a free agent (which would be after the vampire teams put in their waiver claims for that week). It will be a standard 9 player starting lineup (1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX, 1 K, 1 D/ST) so the benches need to be at least 7 players long with no transactions or I could see the case for 8, 9, or 10 player benches, but no more than that. So the options are going to be 16 rounds (7 player bench), 17 rounds (8 player bench), 18 rounds (9 player bench) or 19 round (10 player bench). The deeper the benches are, the less players the vampires are going to have to choose from, so the larger the benches, the bigger the disadvantage will be on the vampire teams at the start of the season.

So I made the poll public so you'll be able to see the votes. I voted for the 18 player option, because in my opinion that will still only be 180 players drafted which in the grand scheme of things isn't a ton so I think the vampire teams will still have plenty of options but that's just my opinion.

That's what I was thinking. Even number of rounds.

18 rounds?

Standard MBBRL And suicide have 5 bench spots.

16 should be the absolute max.

And 14 and 15 should be voting options.

Um, no. Because we have waivers in those leagues and you damn vampires just can't be trusted. LOL.

I have never played in a non-dynasty league with more than 7 bench spots.

9 bench is way too big. There won't be anything left over.

Do you want to give up your vampire spot? ;)

So you're saying that you're scared. LOL. You're looking at this like a regular re-draft league that you only have 5 or 6 bench spots, I'm looking at it more like a best ball league which usually drafts 20 spots because there's no transactions throughout the year and splitting the difference. This is also another one of those things that can be re-visited next year depending on the strength of the vampire teams.

Vamps have almost no chance with a roster that big.

I am not scared.

I do want a fair fight in my chance to be the vamp though.

Because tweaking next year does not help me when I am not a vamp anymore.

If vamps don't get the first pick until 181, a lot of the free agent depth that could help us compete prior to week 5 or 6 will be gone.

You are looking at the advantage vampires have, but if we start 0-5, we are cooked.

You even have a provision where non-vamp teams can replace IR players.

9 man bench is extreme and completely unneccesary.

The poll needs to reflect more options similar to what we have in other leagues. Again, 16 should be the absolute max and I would vote for 15.

The only way I will be okay with 18 bench spots is when I am proven right that 18 bench spots is far too many to give the vamps a fair shake, I want another crack at it next year. Not 2026.

I would much rather reduce roster spots to 15, but allow sporadic roster moves for all teams to do the following:

1) replace a player on IR
2) temporarily replace a single position starter on bye (QB, TE, DST, K) - these moves are 1 week replacements only, no drop required

What will inevitably happen is that an 18 man roster will leave vamps with nothing at TE, little at QB and garbage at DST because most (all) will roster 2 or more.

I know you are probably thinking about covering byes, but carrying all those backups at those positions leaves far too little left over for the vamps to compete.

I have an 8 man bench in my main money league redraft. And there are always options on the wire.

I think you're over thinking.

It isn't the RBs and the WRs that will tip the scales.

It is the TEs, DSts and QBs when everybody has 2, where the 2nd will unnessecarily rot on benches for all but 1 week.

Hence the whole point of a vampire league.

@Bandit How about allowing a team two changes a year that must be used on TE, K, or D? Then lower the roster size to 16.

It is still a decent enough roster size to have a good bench, and answers TLance's issues.

I'm a silent partner to Barilko's team I may not get a vote but I agree with tlance. Even 16 rounds of players before the vampire team gets a shot is pretty brutal. Not many Coma teams will outscore a Suicide team and that's with 14 rounds.

I hate to say it, but why don't we consider cutting the Flex? That would eliminate one spot on the roster and give us bit of a deeper bench, since have one less starting spot.
